WHY THE FUCK IS THERE SO MUCH LEAD
paris.nyc
my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

I'm pretty anti-self driving in general (build trains and public transit!) but I do think it makes certain sense on like... Long highway/interstate drives. Not a lot of attention needs to be paid while driving through northern Iowa or western Nebraska.

But why are we using it in cities?!

Here's video from the Hingham police showing a driver in a Tesla speeding by a stopped school bus. The driver blamed the self-driving mode. He still got a ticket.

Alway enjoy when the camera cuts to Arthur Blank on the field and he looks like he's just arrived from a ribbon cutting for a steam engine that will usher in the next phase of the industrial revolution

Here's what I had to say. Great media turnout. We'll see what makes the news.
Hello,
My name is Dan Marshall. I am co-owner of Mischief Toy Store on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul along with my wife and daughter.
I know that Americans are understandably frustrated by the effects of the current government shutdown. Airport delays are just one type of disruption we're all dealing with. But many millions of families like mine are facing a disruption far worse-unaffordable and unobtainable health insurance unless Republican leaders reinstate Affordable Care Act tax credits.
We've been selling toys in Saint Paul for over 27 years. Like many small business owners, health care costs have always been the biggest drag on our small business, and we're at risk yet again.
Before the ACA, our family was paying an extraordinary amount for health care.
Due to my wife Millie's type 1 diabetes, a pre-existing condition, private insurers refused to cover her.
After the ACA passed, we were able to purchase private insurance through the new exchanges. Still, insurance was just barely affordable. Because of our plans' high deductibles, we always think twice before seeking care.
And now, because Trump's Big Beautiful Betrayal stripped away ACA subsidies, we're facing a 20% increase in insurance costs for next year. If not for Minnesota's reinsurance program, that increase would have been as high as 300%, as it is in most other states.
Every year, I spend hours on hold with the county health department and MNSure attempting to re-enroll. This year, again thanks to Trump, the red tape will increase and it'll be even more difficult to re-enroll our family.
For Millie, the increasing costs of diabetic supplies means there is absolutely no way we can go without insurance. Small business owners and farmers all across America are facing the same untenable situation. Our family urges our Democratic leadership to hold firm against the GOP. Let's keep the Affordable Care Act affordable.

Sean McDermott talked about getting too cute last week. That third down play probably falls in that category

Did the Bills forget that Josh Allen is large enough that if he just fell over he'd pick up enough for the 1st down?

There's gotta be at least a couple refs who go look at videos of their calls and admire their own muscles, right?

I'm sorry, I just had to grab that clip of @pablo.show and @minakimes.bsky.social doing smelling salts for the first time:

Me reading Gene Wolfe and trying to figure out if a character has actually appeared before or if the narrator is just acting as if we should know them
jeffbbraun.bsky.social
If a character hasn’t appeared for 30 pages, there should be a footnote reminding everyone who they are so I don’t have to flip back and try to figure it out.

I’m dumb and that would be helpful.

Smith signed with the Eagles on Sept. 5. He played just five games with the team.

Lions fans love to bring up Quay Walker but the difference here is that Quay has very publicly worked on himself and his attitude/actions.

Quay did get flagged/fined last year vs the Lions - and Dan Skipper winked into the camera as he flopped.
