Gold octopus-shaped ornaments from Bronze Age Mycenae, Grave IV, Grave Circle A.

The curled tips of the arms create eyelets for stitching the ornaments onto a garment or shroud some 3,500 years ago.

My photo shows a display of octopus-shaped funerary gold ornaments excavated from Grave IV, Grave Circle A, at ancient Mycenae, Greece. Each octopus is 6.8 cm wide and has seven writhing arms with suckers. The curled tips create small holes enabling them to be sewn onto fabric. They were probably sewn onto a funerary garment or shroud. Dated 1,500 BC. On display at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens

We've had such a journey to get here. ❤️ a moment of respite for Fish
From Forest of the Morning, book 3: Fish had never truly known what it was to be a child, but as he stripped off boots and socks and trousers, peeled away belt and shirt and crusty undergarments, launched himself into the cold clear water that opened before him, he would still have said that he felt half a boy again. He took a deep breath and dived. The lake water was clear enough to see through when he opened his eyes. Emerald weeds swirled around him, and the sun dazzled through the water, throwing a glittering golden rope towards him. He swam for as long as he could hold his breath, and then he surfaced, paddling, laughing as he felt the sun on his face and the cool water enfolding him like a comforting blanket. He felt reborn. The gentle tide surged away the grime and scabs that had been stagnating on his skin, and left him clean, feeling stronger than he had for many weeks.

Day 14 of #ArtAdventCalendar! Sharing some book necklaces for today. Each book is made of polymer clay with stars falling from them. To make it even more fun, the books spin on the wires, making them an excellent fidget.

So it's the high fantasy thing where English is the "Common Tongue", but there is more than one language.

Fish had a nobleman's education so speaks several, but he's also naturally gifted at languages because it's a gift I wish I had and also plot convenient 😅

I think this falls into the category of horndogs fooling around somewhere they shouldn't, lol. Wren and Spencer are in a barn and this moment quickly gets interrupted by necromantic shenanigans.

It stood to reason that there were some people out there in the world who found barns to be the height of eroticism, gods bless them, but Wren was certainly not among their number. She’d just wanted to tell Spencer about her hand, really. It seemed worrisome enough that she thought the priest should know. It wasn’t her fault the lamp light made every muscle in his chest stand out or that he got that little crease in between his brows when he was fussing over her that made her knees feel all watery. He was the one who said the bit about pleasant feelings, really it was Spencer’s fault for walking right into such an obvious innuendo. Nope, she decided indignantly, not my fault at all that I’ve got my tongue down his throat and his hand on my tit right now. And then Spencer brushed his thumb across the tight bud of her nipple and Wren moaned, a hungry ache of sound in the back of her throat. She could feel the hard, solid length of him pressed against her thigh and there was too much between them. Too much fabric, too much space, too much air. She tugged at his shirt, pulling her mouth away from his just long enough to get the cloth over the priest’s head before devouring his lips again. Wren slid her hands over the planes of his chest, her tanned skin seeming infinitely darker against his pale white flesh. She planted a trail of kisses along the line of his neck, the faint stubble there rough against her lips, and traced the curve of his shoulders with her fingertips, delighted by the smattering of cinnamon freckles she found there.
