On either side of the path is a strip of scraggly grass/brush and beyond that, the lake. At the horizon, a two prominent electrical pylons stand, with a half dozen more at half or a third their height across the horizon. Above, the sky is milky gray, and faintly we see some power lines coming in/out of the haze. At the top left, the image is slightly brighter, suggesting a just-out-of-frame sun. The overall vibe is nostalgic and murky and other-worldly.

Thanks. It’s real. People who have visited this island and been near Sunset Beach have seen and photographed this bird. It frequents the area, hunting for food. I have more photos of the heron from this day and other days as well. This is one I took at night using my phone. 🙏🏽👍🏽🙏🏽

Charles "Teenie" Harris
