I’ve seen a few people post about steakhouses this evening, and it made me reminisce about dinners at Hoffbrau in Austin. With all the changes on the west side of downtown Austin over the last 15 years, I hope that place is still around and just as unpretentious.

I don't know if I would call it "obscure," but probably the Team Penske hat signed by 2016 IndyCar champion and 2019 Indianapolis 500 winner Simon Pagenaud.
What is the most "obscure" piece of sports memorabilia that you own? Why do you have it?

Hot damn, the comments about nice vs kind really hit, as well as the community aspect. I realize OK isn’t much better than TX in the aspects this author mentions (and worse in some), but those two items are distinct cultural differences north and south of the Red River.

Stephen Miller’s ancestors were Jewish refugees from the pogroms in czarist Russia. They came to the U.S. in the early twentieth century, even as racists said this same stuff about them.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

IMO, too many people associate American Thanksgiving with the mythical "first Thanksgiving" taught school kids, but really it's just one variety of fall/harvest festivals celebrated by cultures across the world. It's neither American nor particularly unique in origin.

Rewatching "Frasier" for the umpteenth time, and I am constantly impressed by David Hyde Pierce's comedic instincts and delivery. It's hard to believe comedy wasn't his background prior to this show.
