First time you file taxes in France you do so by paper. Subsequent years, you file online, but the first time is printouts and snail mail or you walk it over.

Sent in what I had with a shrug. Get an email....yeah, go ahead and attach X, Y, and Z.

Why couldn't I do that in the first place?!

Was packing for a trip, but hadn't decided where I was going for undergrad. Mom was impatient so I grabbed the first acceptance letter at hand.

Later, I had an A in English and a B in French so became an English major (before tripling for a bit).

Just to be clear: armed government agents are allowed to wear masks, balaclavas, and glasses that completely hide their identities as they disappear people off streets and out of public places, but students can't wear masks while protesting even in approved "time, manner, and place".

There has literally never been a universal basic income trial program that didn't deliver real and measurable results above and beyond any other form of social welfare, and every time another concludes with the same findings the powers that be go "interesting! Anyway," and pretend it wouldn't work.

Left the house thinking I should be social, but the bar had too many people inside and it's just cold enough that I don't want to sit outside. Checked movie showtimes (shared silent activity), but most of the seats are sold meaning someone will be talking or on their phone. Came back home.

For me, home isn't a place, it's people.

I want to be with my people. Sometime that's where I live, where they live, where neither of us live... Home is with people that love you or at least like you for a little while.
9. How has your understanding of “home” changed over time, particularly during the holiday season?

U can be offended or u can be rational
Either way, thats none of my concern
3. How do you avoid dishes that you already know won’t be good without being offensive?

"Mrs Agnew's first language is BSL.

Upon arrival at hospital, she typed her request for an interpreter on her phone.

But the receptionist asked, 'What is a BSL interpreter?', Mrs Agnew said."

I can understand clarifying BSL, but what access is being provided when unfamiliar with the options?

Turkey day is fast approaching, which means families all over the country are gathering to "give thanks". This year, I challenge you all to call out your MAGA relatives and hold them accountable for their apathy, their bigotry and their hate.

Don't give them a pass "for the holidays".

The numbers shouldn't even matter. The Serious People know that vaccines are good. If you believe otherwise, you are excused from the conversation and responsibility to govern. Go play make believe- we have stuff to do.
Anti-vaccine sentiment is now a load-bearing plank in the Republican platform.

Democrats haven’t budged on the need for school vaccine requirements since 2019—86% agree with them then and now.

Republicans have consumed so much disinformation that their support has declined from 79% to 52%.

When people ask me if I miss the US, my answer is friends and spicy food anytime.

I realized this week I'd often be traveling, cooking with a partner, or generally spending quality time. Here- it's just another week. Class tomorrow, no days off.

It's cool, but different.

I want my brownies thicc, dense af. When you pick it up you are surprised at the heft and your fingers are wet after having one. If they are low-key mistaken for fudge, I'm not mad.

No, I will not do that.

Hilariously, I just had a reviewer recommend a rejection of my paper because I used an ethically and gender diverse sample, in a study that showed that an LLM was biased against women and people of color. I guess they wanted me to use a group of white men to illustrate the bias?
