Things got worse and Crinkle started crashing today. Went back to vet, had enlarged heart restricting her breathing. Made the call to put her to sleep. She's not in pain anymore.

Mark Twain is badly overrated. Huck Finn is an outstanding picaresque but the sequels are largely unread for a reason, and most people are more familiar with his witticisms than his long-form works for the same reason: there's a meanness to his writing that only works in small doses.
