Our junior school had a pool. 10 x 5 yards, above ground. If you swam all the way round it was 25 yards!
I bought a new cossie when I went to secondary. I showed Pa and he immediately knew - proper Swallows & Amazons savage outfit (regulation black what's now known as boy leg).

#Bookvember Day 3

Arthur Ransome was an author I loved at an early age. I loved boats and his books really captured their magic.

I love tha series Swallows and Amazons. I read them all but first was Great Northern! Which pushed me towards birding.
But at the end I thought… „why isn‘t my life like this“ and realised what the class divide was in the UK

My name is Jim (this may be a lie.) First book I remember reading and really getting into was something called Swallows and Amazons. I was young.

First thing I ever wrote - a Star Trek fan fic when I was maybe 12. Just a fountain pen and some paper my mum tore out of her notebook for me.

Until the 1960s, the outline of Madmarston Iron Age hillfort #Oxfordshire was defined by fieldbanks and hedgerows

Since then it has been sadly obliterated by agriculture ☹️
