Day 3 of #Migweek.
Migration is on!!!
Good numbers of Redwing, Fieldfare, Blackbird and Brambling around the head, nets are open at South Landing .
Should be an exciting day

Day 2 of #Migweek.
9 Sooty Shearwater, 3 Velvet Scoter and 2 Pomarine Skua were the seawatch highlights also 4 Whooper Swans, 12 Redwing and 5 Brambling.

The vismigging is going ahead At Hunmanby Gap at the later start time of 9.30am.
The evening talk is Craig Thomas with “Headland Highlights 2025-an alpine melody” at the Living Seas Centre, South Landing.
Doors open 7pm for a 7.30 start, places still available.

The guided walk at Flamborough, for those booked on it, is going ahead (meet at the lighthouse car park for 10am start).

Again @flamboroughbird.bsky.social triumph with todays #Migweek ringing session. Perhaps the 5th year we have returned, at my eldests request (which alone speaks volumes).
Huge thanks to everyone involved. Seeing all ages & levels of interest genuinely engaged is heatwarming.

I'm going to call this a Lesser Redpoll and leave it at that.

The first day of Migweek had 23 Little Gull, Arctic Skua and Bonxie on the seawatch with Kingfisher, Cetti’s Warbler and Whooper Swan at Thornwick pools, Goldcrest and Redwing crept in smal numbers also.

Sadly for many yesterdays star bird wasn’t seen but Barred and Yellow-browed Warblers at South Landing withh Grey Plovers and Red-breasted Merganser, Whooper Seans toured the headland and a Merlin at RSPB Bempton.
