The new #SpaceWeatherWoman forecast is up! See the sunspots on the Sun's farside that will soon give us another round of big flares, Earth-directed solar storms & lots of radio noise! Activity could climb fast. Aurora possibilities high over the next two weeks https://www.patreon.com/posts/144547128
Very intense #solarstorm launch underway from old Region 4274 (likely to be renamed 4297). This storm is not Earth-directed (it is directed towards Saturn), but I would not be surprised if we see a radiation storm rise at Earth over the next few hours.

X-1.95 flare now! Although not yet completely in view, old Region 4274 it is firing big flares again! This one is causing an R3 Radio blackout on the dayside of Earth now! Expect VHF/HF radio degradation over next hour, especially in the Asian Pacific (colored regions in map).

Our Sun Wakes Up! Soon to be named Region 4294 fires an M5.96-flare at an R2-level radio blackout now! Expect signal degradation on VHF and HF dayside radio bands in the western hemisphere over the next hour, especially western South America, Hawaii & Asian Pacific (colored regions in map).

Bouncing in the blast wave! Check this high detail (denoised) view of a massive filament like a solar skyscraper. A farsided solar storm launch causes this springy structure to bob up and down in the wake of the blast. Taller than 7 Earths, it will launch soon, but towards Saturn, not Earth.

As expected, we are now in a fast solar wind stream from this highly irregularly shaped coronal hole. We are passing through the upper portion of the fast wind pocket, but active Region 4292, could cause highly variable wind. Aurora chasers watch for this bumpy wind. It could trigger substorms!
November 24, 2025 at 8:07 PM
This coronal hole could give us uneven bursts of fast wind thanks to active Region 4292 which has emerged right in the middle of it. Expect several magnetic polarity inversions in the fast wind stream too, thanks to this subtle complexity!
Space Weather

An equatorial coronal hole is facing Earth. We should expect some high-latitude aurora activity from this on or around 27 Nov.

Some interesting looking prominences are visible on images from the ground-based Solar Flare Telescope at Mitika, Japan.

I've been encouraged to do infographic summaries of my forecasts. Here are 2 different versions. l would like your honest opinions. Which of these do you prefer, straightforward and easy or futuristic and spacey? Here is a link to my recent forecast if you want a deeper dive: youtu.be/FOLDm_N6ft8

The new #SpaceWeatherWoman forecast is up! This week, watch early signs of the Sun changing, learn about the historic ground level event effects on the aviation community, and see when solar activity is going to pick up again. https://www.patreon.com/posts/143986939

Here we go! Region 4274 fires a big X1.8-flare now! HF and VHF radio is getting hammered by an R3-level radio blackout. Expect degraded radio & GPS reception over the next hour on Earth's dayside, especially the Western Hemisphere, Hawaii & West Africa (colored regions in map).
November 4, 2025 at 6:07 PM
Along with the Sun's farside blasts, several solar storms are headed to Earth! Expect a bumpy ride through October 28. Aurora chasers at high latitudes could see decent shows. HF radio & GPS users expect better reception on the dayside. See my latest forecast for more https://youtu.be/-_pYGbD1l00

The new Space Weather Woman forecast is up! Learn the details of the coming solar storms, watch how quickly Regions 4246 and 4248 have grown into X-flare players, and see why aurora photographers smile while HF radio and GPS users from this week. https://www.patreon.com/posts/141259994

Space Weather has picks up in a big way! Region 4246 launches 4 solar storms towards Earth. Region 4248 and 4250 are entering the same hot longitudes and are becoming more active. Expect big flares, HF radio blackouts and & storm launches to continue! Strong Earth-impacts peak October 15-17.

This is just mesmerizing! The way the #aurora undulates looks almost like an undersea creature swimming. Hard to believe it's this bright on an iPhone. Great capture. Thanks for reporting!

Aurora is out tonight!

If you take long exposures, your cell phone camera might be able to pick up the colors that are too dim for your eyes to see. Thanks for reporting!
Aurora borealis for some tonight at Chicago -- I don't see it but others do with cameras. Bz is below -10 pushing -20 at times

One of the best Aurora shows I’ve seen. Legit just stopped and watched it dance. Big camera is shooting. This is just iPhone again.

This is an auroral phenomenon known as a "sub-auroral" arc or "STEVE." It is occurring because there is an ongoing #solarstorm happening right now. Enjoy the show, but don't trust your GPS navigation signal while under these displays. They can cause it to jump around!
Smoke or Aurora? NW Wyoming

Just took this photo at 12:15am NW Wyoming saw it at 296 degrees NW. Is this just smoke illuminated somehow? There is no light pollution this direction at all but there also isn’t any aurora borealis reports …
