There is plenty of research showing that medical providers often underestimate the pain of Black patients. I did a quick search and got a large number of citations.

Also to consider: people with chronic pain are often seen as abusers of pain medication. For example (note: I don't know if it's still true, I'm out of date), people with Sickle Cell disease experience a lot of pain on a frequent basis, therefore request pain medication and are seen as drug abusers.

Taking a wait & see view on him. What I've read about him so far sounds good.
Georgetown U has shown more moral courage than most universities over the last decade or so. I hope this new president will continue that.
Hearing about his protection of transgender students in ROTC does give me hope.

I think what's bothering me about all these statements I'm seeing from politicians that are variations of "Israeli hostages and Palestinians are returning to their homes, yay" is that Israelis are returning to their homes and Palestinians are returning to uninhabitable post apocalyptic rubble.
