No, I totally get you! Realistically, if gen AI does become entirely inaccessible to the everyday person, if it were to become removed from the pipeline, it doesn't mean this, as an issue, isn't worth discussing, breaking down, recognizing for all its little festering parts and problems.

Ultimately, I'm talking about reliance on image generation, and that's taken various forms throughout our lives, and it will continue to change, grow, and develop, so it's not a discussion exclusive to GenAI, but rather the ability to examine ones sources and external influences when creating art.

The proposed future collapse of GenAI image generation also doesn't magically remove everything that was generated before its end. These images will still exist, be distributed, and likely iterated upon in one fashion or another.

And while the AI bubble is careening towards a very catastrophic pop, it's become ingrained in our culture and many people's everyday use in a way which will not be easily or prettily parted from.

Do I want to see Generative AI as it currently exists and operates in creative spaces wither and die? Of course. But I also know the significant reliance many professionals have already developed upon these tools satisfy corpo demands. I try to be hopeful and realistic at once.
