Woah.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Rachel Johnson defending her brother on @lbc.co.uk currently just blamed the "statest establishment" for the failures.

"He's getting all the blame and none of the credit" and "he did his best."

Really Rachel? Well his best was appalling. This wasn't a gold club tombola. It was a pandemic.

Much as I value the FT and don't want to be one of those punctuation obsessives, I wish it (and others) would desist from turning the Chancellor into a plural possessive. She is one individual, so it should be Reeves's gambit, not Reeves' gambit. I mean, no wonder the country's going to the dogs...

Mahmood is right to acknowledge the ugliness in communities. She's wrong to try to oppose it by adopting policies those who swear at her will only push further.

Stand back, and make your "open, tolerant and generous place" the starting point. Then, only then, can your policies be tough.

#r4today Does Shabana Mahmood think saying “we are a generous ppl” will somehow make the proposed immigration changes any more palatable?

She highlights the prejudice she faces as a Muslim MP, yet overlooks the irony of seeking generosity for herself while backing policies that deny it to others.

"The loss of trade with Europe alone costs us £100 billion of lost trade every year"

"That's a tax yield of £40 billion"
