Excluding trans people won’t stop you getting sued | Good Law Project
Girl Guiding and the Women’s Institute have announced that they will now exclude trans women and girls after legal threats – but organisations can and should remain inclusive.

I also was looking into girl guides for my daughter.

As a girl who had already been forced out of school due to their toilet policies, I had hoped it would be a great way for her to meet other kids her age.

And now that option has been ripped away from us too.

This is not an abstract debate.
🤍 We stand with every family affected by the Girlguiding policy change

What happened to this young girl is not an abstract policy debate. It's a child who was excited to be part of Rainbows with her friends, tried her sessions, loved them, was ready to join. Now she's been told she doesn't belong.

I’m furious. Girlguiding yesterday. The Women’s Institute today. Organisations rushing to ban trans people before the government has even published its guidance.

This isn’t caution or fear, it’s capitulation to bullies with money, influence, and an agenda. It’s the weaponisation of hate. 1/4🏳️‍🌈🫶🏳️‍⚧️

8 years ago, 'gender critical' transphobes launched a campaign against the Girl Guides, because they refused to exclude trans girls.

A devastated mum of a young trans girl wrote this...

Today, the bullying, braying, bigots got their wish! 😪
They are NOT "protecting girls" - it's bigotry and hate!
Girl Guides: How to radicalise hate against trans children in 10 easy steps
Tomorrow, following a short but successful propaganda campaign, a UK Newspaper will publish an open letter asking Girl Guiding UK to suspend their policy of inclusion for All Girls, including those…

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

Waited all day to read this and it was even better than promised. And comments that anti-trans panics -- and moral panics in general -- are a way to avoid dealing with the far more endemic sexual abuse of girls and women are spot-on.
I’ve spent a lot of the last three years investigating the rise of anti-trans politics. Often, it came back to the controversy over trans women athletes.

So I teamed up with @pablo.show to look into the leading figure on the issue: Riley Gaines.

I still don't understand how a piece of legislation that allows exclusion if a service wanted on a case by case basis has become forced exclusion whether or not the service wants to, or be sued by anti trans fanatics

We tried to place this story - very expensive polling, the first of its kind, strong quantitative data about what trans people feel about Britain: bluntly there is no better way to tell the story - with the BBC but it said it was "too weak".

But it will pick up any old piece of transhating garbage.
In @yougov.co.uk polling of the trans community, to the best of our knowledge the first of its kind ever conducted, an astonishing 84% said Britain is “fairly unsafe” or “very unsafe” for trans people.

When a politician dithers over questions about trans people that’s when they’ve lost credibility with the trans community.
No matter how much ‘dignity and respect’ they might claim trans people deserve, they’ve lost the room.

@zackpolanski.bsky.social does not dither.

1/🧵 As a trans lawyer, I say that @zackpolanski.bsky.social gave the legally and politically perfect answer.

“Of course they’re wrong. Their job is to look at what has been legislated for. The legislation is wrong and we should get back to parliamentarians who actually stand by trans people.”

Fairly sure the group involved here also protest outside the homes of migrants and were outside the home of a family friend. MLAs outside Alliance who talked about legitimate concerns when protests happened aren't mentioning that today.

I am beyond angry that the Charity Commission are giving these groups money paid from MY taxes to fund groups that are directly harming my family!
Because of the unforgivably appalling decisions of the Charity Commission, these hate groups, Sex Matters and LGB Alliance, are funded from your taxes.

A young girl died because of the British government’s assault on trans people. They murdered her. Streeting, Starmer, Cass and the rest, they murdered this girl. Her blood is on their hands.

As an #intersex child, I'd often wait until the break was over before I went to the toilet, and then I'd often sit in the locked cubicle and cry because I was terrified of going back into the classroom where the teacher would single me out for example

genuinely insane we are at point "a person was afraid of someone who caused NO harm, so latter person needs to be segregated" rather than genuinely if YOU are so terrified of others on this level YOU are A PHOBE of some stripe and it is YOU who needs to leave. it IS bigots who need a third space imo

I hope people understand just how horrifying this is as a trans person.

You could just be getting in with your life, not doing anything to hurt anyone - and suddenly you find yourself dragged into a horrible legal case where the press is painting your going to the toilet as somehow predatory.
So tired
