I commend the Toyama basketball team on creating a suitably fierce logo, but have any of them actually seen a grouse?

I love that, for all their automation, communication, and remote detection and control systems, trains in Japan still include a slot in the dash panel for the driver to place their pocket watch.

Holy crap, Tabelog (食べログ) charges ¥900 to make reservations now!?

I made the reservation at about 6pm, arriving at 7, so it’s not a cancellation or no-show charge.

Did my last wedding ceremony yesterday. Pretty fun actually, the ring-bearers were two dogs in wedding dresses.

Having free time after my semi-voluntary retirement, I reached out to the wedding company I worked with back in the 00s to see about going back to minister/performer work.

After doing it for two months, I decided to quit.

Because Japanese sentences can drop all specific information and nearly all parts of speech while remaining acceptably grammatical for everyday speech, the language is ideal for abuse through gaslighting. Especially by those working with non-native speakers.

Just started reading Thomas Ligotti’s The Nightmare Factory and good christ, did this guy lose his virginity to a thesaurus?

I’m about a quarter of the way through, does he stop writing like a Lovecraft / Bulwer-Lytton pastiche eventually?

To the bank sending me emails every 8 hours asking why I haven’t signed the paperwork they sent:

It’s because you sent me the forms at midnight Friday Tokyo time, and I can only sign them during US East Coast business hours!

And that’s 100% because of your bumblefuck provincial system!
