Our new paper demonstrates that removing images of children from training datasets of text-to-image models fails to prevent the misuse of these models to generate child sexual abuse material (AI CSAM). A thread 🧵

We spent long time studying the question "does training data filtering help prevent generative models from generating unwanted content?"

TL;DR: Nope. In some cases it slightly increases difficulty but not enough to prevent even average users from finding ways to create what they want.

It's Putin's plan--weakening democracies--Trump is just the paid lackey..
Trump's goal is to turn this map red. "Europe's center is barely holding — and Trump plans to blow it apart. Despite recent election wins for moderates in the Netherlands, Germany and the U.K., the far right is stronger than ever." www.politico.eu/article/euro...

Can't repeat it enough, stay away from the US..
While most reporters focused on the 5yrs social media disclosure to visit the US, few noticed that US Customs and Border Protection could soon also demand your DNA as part of an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) application just to visit the US. www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-...

We could stop having any relevant conference in the US until the rule of law is reinstated, please.
Can we stop having most big hacker conferences in the U.S. please, as only people who support Trump publicly will be allowed into the country from overseas.
Requiring temporary visitors to surrender five years of social media to the U.S. sends the message that the American commitment to free speech is pretense. This simply is not the behavior of a country confident in its freedoms.

It's a threat to free speech around the world and must be opposed.
