That’s the other thing that baffles me about AI and creative writing, actually.

The work IS the joy for me. I don’t want to be able to snap my fingers and have a completed “product.” I want to be transformed by the process. I’m an author but I do this because I enjoy the rigor of being a writer.
In terms of process, I enjoy writing but revising????? Oh, that’s my real kink. A second or third draft???? A fourth???? Making tweaks on my desktop AND my phone???? *moans* I’m a WHORE for revision.
Over scheduling kids is not ok.
Trying to schedule time to catch up with a childhood friend of mine (who lives 45 mins away in a suburb).

Her: “My kids have swimming, basketball, & dance so my next free weekend day is 6 weeks from now, from 9am-10:30am.”

Me: 😳
Quick and easy block list. No propaganda for fascists. 🚫⛔️

Imagine if all bus stops were joyfully painted bus stops!

Mamdani links noise to congestion, basically affirming my “Cities aren’t loud, cars are loud” line.
Stop I can’t even anymore. Happy birthday.

kids teacher just sent this home as part of an assignment he's doing and i want to smash every computer at the school
@americanfietser.bsky.social which pogies should I get? Planning for winter riding my kiddo to school! It doesn’t get super cold here (NC) and barely snows, but I’m originally from FL and I want warm hands 😭

For our cities, police and any other voices of authority.

Just want to get ahead of the kid shaming content that's coming this Halloween. @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social

You probably cannot afford a car, and you almost certainly can't afford not to have one. This is the definition of a policy failure.
AAA estimates the average cost of owning a car is $12,297 a year, and recommends drivers spend no more than 10 percent of their income on car costs. This means you should make 120K to afford the average cost. Median *household* income in the US is $77K. The math just doesn't work.

Fun fact: humans aren’t made of sugar and we don’t melt in the rain.

If you show your kids how to dress for the weather, they learn quickly and may even enjoy it!

My 7yo on our rainy walk this AM: “the leaves look so pretty falling from the trees w/ the rain drops.”

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.

Boston, MA — 165 years ago today

Taken from a hot air balloon, this photo is one of the first examples of urban aerial photography.

It pre-dates the US Civil War and it was taken more than 40 years before the Wright brothers’ first airplane flight.
To be honest I’d rather explain gay marriage and trans people to my son than what is going on with the federal government. I really hate this timeline.
I’m usually with my kids on public transit. It’s fun for them to pull the cord. The drivers don’t say anything, even if the pull cord isn’t working.

Looking through my kiddo's school work and saw this. I would argue the cause: Driver was distracted. Driver was speeding. Traffic Engineer prioritized car throughput over safety. Posted speed limit too high. Car bloat. No daylighting enforcement. Oh, and #DriverNotCar

Slipping into a bed with freshly laundered sheets after an evening shower is absolutely undefeated.
Kiddo asked to stop by the park after school today. I couldn’t say no. Bikes give us this freedom.

when people are in cars they arent in society
Watching antisocial driver behavior in the school drop-off line makes it really clear that the pandemic destroyed whatever few shreds remained of the social compact, just pathological selfishness on display every day

If anyone’s struggled to keep up with my threads on why the genAI bubble
Is a bubble, here’s a simplified pictorial explanation, the plug is OpenAI and the sockets are Microsoft, Meta, Oracle, Nvidia, and AMD

Worst bike rack I have ever seen.
I do enjoy walking at #burghley but I'm afraid their cycle parking offer is pathetic.

I've emailed previously and had no response. Tens of thousands spent recently on a new car park, but this is their idea of acceptable secure cycle parking.
