I love to hear this. Downey’s book is excellent
@stephaniedray.bsky.social, because I read and loved Becoming Madam Secretary earlier this year, I am now reading Kirstin Downey’s The Woman Behind the New Deal. Both books are excellent!

Not sure what I did to my algorithm or whatever but my feed is filled with so many immature dumbasses today I wish I had the time and the crayons to set them straight. But I don’t.

ICE detains husband of Democratic congressional candidate—who is also a disabled U.S. Army veteran.

He is wheelchair bound—after suffering severe injury during training for deployment in Iraq.

Agents arrested him at his naturalization hearing—he is already a green card holder.

Hey, did you know that the NLRB has operated in violation of the Constitution for 90 years? It's right there in this original Constitution we found in 2025.
5th Cir. holds that the structure of the NLRB violates the separation of powers. Preliminarily enjoins three enforcement actions, including one against SpaceX.

I am urging Marylanders to prepare for potential flash flooding and severe storms this afternoon.

The greatest risk for impacts are along the I-95 corridor and upper Eastern Shore, but all counties, except Garrett and Allegany counties, are currently under a flood watch.

The Declaration of Independence asserts some rights are inalienable. That is, they cannot justly be transferred, revoked or taken away arbitrarily by any governmental authority. You have rights by virtue of being a human being. Anyone who says otherwise is Un-American.

I see grocery/takeout shaming discourse going around again, so this is your periodic historian reminder that cooking from scratch daily while working has never been sustainable, and for millennia everyone either relied on takeout & restaurants or ate in huge households w/ big dorm-like group dining.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

My recompense for working all weekend is that I'm going to do it in pajamas. Also, I had a dream last night that we had to hire an electrician, and John Adams scolded me, saying electricity was an unnecessary expense, that he'd lived without it all his life, and that I need to be more frugal.

THE FEDERALIST PAPERS are a series of influential essays by 3 of my favorite Founding Fathers. People forget there were also ANTI-FEDERALIST PAPERS by other founding fathers. Just as important to understanding America. So don't come at me if you haven't read both.
