something I think about often is Zelda Williams' comments about fans genuinely thinking she would be happy to see something vaguely shaped like her dad, that a person would be satisfied with something that just kinda looks like the thing you apparently love
It's such a good summary of guys like davidvinc: liking RPGs is part of their brand, which doesn't involve having to actually understand anything about the RPGs they claim to be passionate about. Could Chrono Trigger have a dynamic camera to accommodate positional-based combat? Who cares, AI slop!
