This is true, and also a perfect example of how this stuff comes from just normal video game things
Like OoT introduced lengthy chest opening animations with music building up to the big reveal so you get a sense of anticipation and pay off

if you're prone to gambling addiction, your brain registers just the act of gambling to be as pleasurable as winning, so gacha/gambling/lootboxes have animations that are tailor-made to extend that high (like OW's boxes having that gold trail before the final reveal)

I feel like gameplay rebalancing romhacks of rpgs are obsessed with the idea of like making all gear like kinda equal but they have weird, different effects
which just means that rather than having a progression curve, you get a bunch of useless shit that doesn't matter

Became obsessed with the fan theory that Cloud and Sephiroth are Zack's Nobody and Heartless. Which makes 1000 times more since than whatever story you'd have to cobble together to connect the three otherwise.
