Point of fact: we don’t know the sandwich had mustard and onions. We just know the agent testified he smelled mustard and onions.

This may seem like a minor difference to you, but the guy is almost certainly lying.

I gotta give it up to the writers tho. If NYC elects a Muslim mayor on the day Dick Cheney died, that is one hell of a slow played story arc. Every time you want to fire 2025's writers room they give you a little narrative resolution as a treat.
X-Files and Silence of the Lambs
Name movie or tv universes that aren’t connected but should be.

Since Greg Abbott made Houston remove the rainbow crosswalk. Rainbows are being painted on homes and businesses all over the city.

Remember when the book banners said it was "only" school libraries? That kids could get the book at the public library or buy it?

We knew they were fucking liars and moving the goal post again and again.

Not the first bookstore that caved to their bigotry and it won't be the last.

America.
This has been a really rough few days. I recently learned of a controversy around our book THE PRINCESS IN BLACK AND THE PRINCE IN PINK. Some were outraged that Deseret Book carried it (a chain of bookstores in the west). Deseret Book appears to have complied to their demands and removed it. 1/

thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

this is insane

lucy diavolo really blazed a trail at teen vogue that she doesn't get enough credit for because media's memory is short. how lex and other teen vogue staffers evolved that work was beautiful. this is a huge blow to journalism
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Farewell, Diane Ladd. Never anything less than brilliant. ❤️

As I regularly note, "AI" at this point is an umbrella marketing term for a bunch or generative/machine learning/other formerly differently-termed processes that (of course) have no actual intelligence behind them. It means nothing useful for how the underlying computing proceeds. Thus the quotes.
I love how you used quotation marks around "AI." If you've been doing that all along, I'm kicking myself for not noticing. It's a misleading or just lying marketing term and we shouldn't accept and repeat it without pushback. Generative LLMs are not AI.

When the suspects appear to be white guys, it’s not a bombing — it’s an intentional explosion.
Yes. Far too many Americans are fine with bad things happening to other people as long as the other people “deserve” it. This applies across the political spectrum.
He *is* Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra. His memory is a series of pop culture references, with no depth, no context, no understanding that their relationship to current events is metaphorical, not actual re-creations with himself as Kennedy and/or Reagan.
This MF has conflated people seeking asylum with the Mariel boatlift. He cannot comprehend anything without connecting it with something he remembers from 40+ years ago. He exists in a 1980s fantasy world.
O'DONNELL: Are we going to war against Venezuela?

TRUMP: I doubt it. They emptied their mental institutions and insane asylums into the United States of America

RIP Adam Greenberg
He was the superb cinematographer who shot Near Dark (watch it!), Terminator 2: Judgment Day and, of course, The Terminator, which means he’s responsible for one of my favourite shots in cinema that also coined a new genre for its film:
I never changed the clock in my old car. It was easier to do the math than to figure out how to change it.
I personally know 3 people who have had MRIs in the last week. One has a brain tumor, another a brain bleed following a fall, the third increasing cognitive impairment resulting from a hypoxic brain injury. Doctors don’t do brain MRIs unless they’re looking for something.
Cosign the post you’re responding to. Our social safety net is unpaid caregivers, most of whom are women. I’m full-time caregiver to my partner after her brain injury, and there’s been nobody helping us. No social services to support us. We’re on our own NOW.
Memories of the turning back of the clock many years ago: Dancing at Changes--or was it Phases?--with my uni friends, and they announced last call--but no, clocks turned back, another hour of dancing! I remember this every year 🩷What a great night that was!

“Why do they keep voting Republican?”

Because in places like Texas, Republicans have made it virtually impossible for Democrats to win, so people don’t vote.
