If they're unwilling to work under a mayor whose politics they disagree with, what are the chances they're willing to protect or serve citizens whose politics they disagree with?
(In the fantasy world where many/any cops protect or serve citizens.)

They're endangering Americans. If an undocumented immigrant sees you pass out, do they want to deal with 1st responders, answer questions from ppl in uniform? If they witness a crime, will they risk getting deported if they talk to cops? Lots of other ways this makes all of us less safe.

Sipping chicory and nobody around me suspects I'm doing civil war cosplay.

Is it just me or are there a lot of UK shows set around Cornwall? Poldark, Doc Martin, Camomile Lawn. Oops, All Creatures, Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax are set in Yorkshire which I'm now learning is not within Cornwall.

It's just me.

GARR-idge (like Elton John in "Levon")
I thought all Brits pronounce it that way but I just heard a brit in a 70s tv show pronounce it like GAIR-ajjj, almost the way Yanks do. Maybe there are regional variations in pronunciation of that word too. "A Horseman Riding By" set in Devon.

Like Neon Genesis dan DEL ee on?

...but then nobody can agree on how to pronounce "Evangelion" anyway. Japanese anime-makers giving us an English vocabulary lesson.

I saw a commenter on another social media site say that someone was arrested while "storming" an ICE facility. Being at a protest is "storming" now in the conservative fantasy world where Portland is burning, Minneapolis is ashes, Paris & Oslo & Manchester are "no-go zones."

Words I love to make characters pronounce funny in This Gun in My Hand:

We knew that Vogon poetry was the third worst poetry in the universe. I'm beginning to think early 20th C greeting cards are fourth worst.

Jfc, I thought this was a cover painting from a new Palladium ttrpg book. That's a real costume?

Without that caption, this works as a Rorschach test. People who want to defund or end policing interpret it as a statement against police. People with "blue lives matter" flags (or skulls) interpret it in favor of police. Many stories & videos of conservatives/cops shooting labelled targets.

Or maybe I didn't understand the details? If so, I blame Ebay for offering an explanation that can't be understood by a person with a BS in English.

I own the Brooklyn Bridge. IF THIS IS SO, WHICH IT IS...

* Or if their bosses demand they use Copilot.

They really missed the pattern of profiteering enshittification. You give away some service for free. You make it sticky or addictive or get people to rely on it (social media, Google Docs, email), then you start charging for what was free. So if ppl start to use Copilot* they might start charging.

someone with a billion dollars no longer experiences the world as 99% of humanity would recognize it, and so any “analysis” or critique of society they offer is fatally, irrevocably flawed. dracula complaining about the price of groceries

the disastrous refusal of the self-styled silicon valley technokings to keep anyone in their lives capable of questioning their increasingly incomprehensible politics has lead to a crisis of thinking so severe that a fifty-eight year old man believes something is important because he knows about it

thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

And the worst part is that's not built-in to the price when you pay or check out. You pay, they ship it, and you might have to pay 50 cents or $5 or $30 for the post office or courier to hand it over. They won't commit to tell you. You roll yer dice & takes yer chances. #TrumpDepression + #AIBubble

I was going to order 100 safety eyes (little plastic bits used for crochet dolls) on Ebay. $1 + $2.99 shipping. Good deal! As I started to check out, it warned about the effect of tariffs. I might have to pay 20%-50% of the cost of the item. +50c, no big deal. Plus $5-$30 fee from courier. NNope.

Like Hendrix opening for The Monkees, although I wouldn't quite put the Stones in that class.

Oops, I wasn't making fun of your alt text. I honestly can't tell them apart either, but it made me think of the movie Killdozer.
