Hello!

I’m a trans, disabled writer/photographer/music nerd.

I love poetry (but am currently focused on a magic horror novella).

Flowers are my favorite things. I shoot a mix of film (Yashica-A) & digital (Olympus PEN E-PL1).

I play piano, and experiment with composition & electronic music.
Martha hears voices coming from the moon. Very quietly, like echoes of flowers stretching over the lawn. She wonders why the world has stopped crying and she hasn't. She tries understanding how death is a silent event. Softly holds palms of earth in her upturned hands. What a terrible thing to be buried in. It looks like grass and feels like childhood. Play-Doh, she remembers. She used to believe her mother was a prophet. Always whispering. Martha is made of words she will never speak aloud. The more she learns about the human heart, the more she believes it is a bomb. Martha wonders if she needs to sell her soul, and how one goes about doing that. Close photograph of a hellebore bloom. Here's a poem that I love. It's by Ron Wallace, who along with his wife Peg have been neighbors of my parents for a half century.

It's kind of fun and silly, but every time I read it something in my throat catches when I reach the last line, and my eyes fill a little bit
Blessings occur. Some days I find myself putting my foot in the same stream twice; leading a horse to water and making him drink. I have a clue. I can see the forest for the trees. All around me people are making silk purses out of sows' ears, getting blood from turnips, building Rome in a day. There's a business like show business. There's something new under the sun. Some days misery no longer loves company; it puts itself out of its. There's rest for the weary. There's turning back. There are guarantees. I can be serious. I can mean that. You can quite put your finger on it. Some days I know I am long for this world. I can go home again. And when I go I can take it with me.

Over the weekend Owen from @gonelawn.bsky.social helped update my name and bio on what is my oldest surviving fiction. So, today, after 11 years, I get to share the oddity of “Darts” again.

For #smallpoemsunday I'm sharing my poem 'Shortbread' from my new pamphlet, Circulaire 💛

Shortbread I add four teaspoons of cocoa to my grandmother’s shortbread recipe. The dough becomes terracotta clay which I mould into an urn, curve into the shape of myself, my floured hands sinking into its hips. There is something primitive about the way it folds like a bowl, then flattens into a tablet, fork strokes becoming language. I slide the tray into the oven, leave it twenty minutes to bake. An anxiety-hollowed afternoon is softened with this preparation. For I am a body, and I deserve something sweet.

BEAUTIFUL LITTLE DREAM You're folding my laundry but you're doing it wrong, making swans instead of squares, the laciest origami, ever, and I'm furious or in love. You're doing your best. Your best is birds. You don't even know how beautiful they are. Silken moments, part of a future. "I wish we had wings," you whisper, and then I wake up, wanting you so badly. My chest a suitcase, lock broken, swans spilling everywhere. Night Vision the girl fits her body in to the space between the bed and the wall. she is a stalk, exhausted. she will do some thing with this. she will surround these bones with flesh. she will cultivate night vision. she will train her tongue to lie still in her mouth and listen. the girl slips into sleep. her dream is red and raging. she will remember to build something human with it.

Inheriting the Farm I am growing a grammar of experience. The lake shore wants more sand, more bones. The plum tree is dropping stones ripe with ghosts. A bomb filled with the breeze explodes with a rattle. Anyway, in the future I already know I am incomplete. Selby Liebert (she/her/per/pers they/them) is a Great Plains author transplanted in the Pacific Northwest. When not writing, they enjoy photography, going to concerts, and quality time with per family and friends.

It is Trans Day of Remembrance, and we remember those we’ve lost, the weight of living with our proximity to violence and grief. We also love fiercely. We love those that are gone as well as the ones still here who can feel it. We must. That love is everything. How we remember. How we resist.
