Well, here we all are. I'm a dad of three, a hospital chaplain semi-reluctantly ascended to management, a film photographer, a board game fan, a reader, and a pizza topping maximalist.

My interests tend to run broad, and in this next political epoch I'm trying to keep my focus local and joyful.

The Everett Street Depot (1886-1965) in the background stood on 4th & Clybourn where the We Energies building is now. Designed by Townsend Mix, it had the largest clocktower in the US when it was built. The train track is now the 794 highway spur.

Nothing fancy for #ArtAdventCalendar from me tonight, just a humble cell phone photo of the moon - it grabbed me as I was waiting on the porch for the kids to get ready for choir dress rehearsal.

This is inexcusable @jimfarley.bsky.social. You should be ashamed for your complicity here. Stand up, repudiate this hate, defend *your own workers* who are being attacked by this kind of bigotry. This is bare minimum.
It's the 20s and the head of Ford is promoting hateful false rhetoric aimed at expelling and killing a minority group.
OK I’ve put together the list. Shame on all of them:

Ford CEO Jim Farley
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa
General Motors plant manager John Urbanic
National Auto Dealers Association Chairman Tom Castriota
Transportation Sec Sean Duffy
Deputy transportation Sec Steven Bradbury

The reason I am not a librarian anymore is because I lost my job and career when a person in power said something racist. I tried to hold him accountable.

It's been three years and I am still clawing my way out of poverty. I faced real consequences.

Fuck all these cowards.

Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

This one paragraph’s assumption that the Roberts Court would show the same deference to a new Dem Admin as it does for Trump is the entire essay’s load-bearing pillar, and boy oh boy it collapses upon the slightest touch

📌That's a damn fine job in TN-07, and just the latest example of why Democrats need to compete EVERYWHERE.

📌Fully 100 current Republicans seats were less pro-Trump than TN-07 in last year's elections. If we hit these bastards where they are, it will be a bloodbath for the repulsive GOP next year.

Here's a poem that I love. It's by Ron Wallace, who along with his wife Peg have been neighbors of my parents for a half century.

It's kind of fun and silly, but every time I read it something in my throat catches when I reach the last line, and my eyes fill a little bit

TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

I hate to take the easy way out, but my Single Actor Desert Island collection has to be

Andy Sirkis

>Lord of The Rings
>Star Wars
>Marvel MCU
>Planet of the Apes
>King Kong

and so many more..
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

This guy and his fellow travelers are strongly testing my anti-death penalty stance.
Hegseth told soldiers under his command in Iraq to ignore legal advice about when they were permitted to kill enemy combatants under their rules of engagement. The anecdote is contained in a book Hegseth wrote last year in which he sharply disparaged the Geneva and Hague Conventions.
