More than one person flagged to me that the “anon” could very possibly just be pedojacketing a trans woman here. The child OC is definitely weird and I don’t like it. “Weird” also isn’t bannable. I would like something more solid here, genuinely.

Regardless, I’m asking for more information. I don’t see any proof in the screenshots that the minor OC is being sexualized or that the “kitten corner”(?) server is actually where that was posted.

I’m far more concerned with actually doing things that are correct than whatever people might think of me because of it. You say reputation like that’s the reason someone would be a good person. It isn’t. Our actions will continue to be consistent with our values. Simple as.

I’m gonna be honest man, I don’t care about reputation? The server has always been open invite. People who want to see it firsthand are welcome to (and several did). Other than that, we will continue to do everything we can to do right by LGBT+ and BIPOC guests, the same as ever.

The one there is from our server but that just… shows they’re there? The weird behavior is from somewhere entirely different.

We just looked through the entire history of mod tickets. No one has ever submitted anything about Fluffy, and every single mod ticket has been answered and resolved.

I have no idea why our name is attached to a callout post about a regular member of the server — not a mod, not an FC member, not staff — connected to something they posted in a space no one else from our server is in.

A DM going “hey, do you know they’re doing this)” would’ve been great.

I’m not sure he necessarily needs one tbqh; it’s a paid members-only server for his ko-fi, advertised as such. That and, regrettably, people simply don’t read. A lot of this specific instance wouldn’t have been a problem if folks had taken time to read and commit disclaimers to memory, but… 🤦

It just also could have very easily been clarified, and blowing things up to involve several “opposing” parties was massively unnecessary.

+ still have shortcomings. Honestly, having seen the original mod outreach, I feel like it was very direct, but it wasn’t harsh or cold. A very straightforward question was asked, and the recipient read a confrontational tone into it when there wasn’t one. Which… it happens. That’s fine.

At the end of the day, DI is a fan community for one artist, making one comic. We all liked the world he made and wanted to contribute, and he was open to collaborating, but it’s not an ARPG in the traditional sense and that confuses people. And with 400+ users, even the *best* moderation will +

I think some of this may be the expectation that DI conducts itself like an ARPG, when it isn’t one. As someone who runs an ARPG that is as large as DI and arguably even more active, it really is genuinely impossible to moderate that many users effectively. You can try, but there’s always gaps.

And I also do think that the people here getting you involved seems a lot more deliberately inflammatory than anything else. There was no reason to do that — even less to give you incomplete information. People clearly just want you to fight on their behalf, and that’s not fair to anyone here.

Two other artists involved did also have very clear TOS about exclusivity from the moment of purchase. It’s not really their fault if the buyer put in a bid claiming yes, they read the TOS, but then didn’t commit it to memory. Touching base would’ve been very easy before rehoming the designs here.

It also definitely isn’t “harassment” to reach out and try to get in contact with them. That’s just people talking to each other. It becomes harassment once there’s block evasion or stalking — but “hey, do you know how I can contact (Name)” isn’t that.

It would’ve taken about 5 seconds for the OG buyer to get contact info for a mod. The artists who wanted their characters back would’ve happily refunded them if we had been asked. We’re all busy though and can’t dedicate our time to tracking who is active with which designs.

It could’ve been very gracious, yes. And at the same time, it could’ve gone very poorly. Not everyone gets along in every community space. The original buyer also very easily could have caught wind of the miscommunication, said “oh shit, yeah, let me get in touch” and then reached out.

A lot of the original artists, myself included, would have been happy to buy the designs back from their original owner. We were never asked, though.

I think it might be clear at this point that people might be seeking you out deliberately to rile you up on their behalf, knowing you’re not a fan of a specific community. And it’s equally clear that what you get told is not even remotely the full story, or even necessarily true.
