Today I wrote about a general tendency to accept atrocious premises, and the need to reject fascism's false choices in order to find expansive and imaginative paths forward.

Breaking the premise, embracing the obstacles, pursing everything.

it's hard but its part of the growing relationship between you, your work, and self-discovery. Part of it for me was decoupling my passion art from income, but therapy, unsaddling myself with performance-driven expectations, and social media boundaries made a huge difference.

the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

In the whole comic-grind bit I'm doing, I've found it super interesting to go see other creators initial pages for their own webcomics, both in a sense of their story hook and their improvement since page 1.

Almost every single one was a case of 'lets start and just roll with it' and that's neat
