(1/6) Hey everybody: For those who don't know me well, I'm a civil servant who works for the state of California. The civil service is the bulk of the gov't and we're hired, not elected. We generally bust our asses trying to do our jobs in spite of politicians; not with them.
But i have no idea what i'm doing!
#clanker is not a slur
What do you do when you were too weird as a kid to get invited to tabletop stuff but now you're 38 and all of your friends seem to primarily do that as their fun thing? Halp 😆😅
Would I still accept them if they turned around? Of course. But I hold no hope or expectation that they will. Their cowardice has shown itself independent of this travesty and it will likely prevent them from ever acknowledging or accepting that what they did was an enormous mistake. (9/9)
I have now cut ties with those family members. Their numbers are blocked and their emails are ignored. It may be petty and small of me, but as powerless as I and many feel right now, watching the rise of fascism in the country which once vanquished it abroad, I have the power to do this. (8/9)
Needless to say, I am incredibly disappointed in those family members. I consider their vote and continued silence for this Regime to be equivalent to voting for and subsequently supporting (or refusing to denounce) the Nazi party in and after 1933 and until its defeat and collapse in 1945 (7/9)
Every horror; every crime; every vile act and despicable word committed upon us by this Regime...all of that was reduced, by them, down to the simple act of voting. Minimalization at its most extreme. Their argument attempted to make voting for a demented fascist out to be "just another vote" (6/9)
On September 12th, they mailed their response. It was a single letter, cosigned by each individual (I had sent a single letter addressed to all three). They mailed it FedEx and it arrived 3 days later yesterday. Its contents were what I expected, rather than what I had hoped for. (5/9)
My family have very mixed and uneven emotional intelligence levels and each have their own emotional baggage from their own lives (like everyone). I knew they wouldn't understand implicitly what they needed to do to win that trust back, so I laid it out for them. (4/9)
I told them that, in light of how intelligent and educated I know they are, the only explanations for their decision were racism, hate, or greed. Then I told them I no longer trusted them as a result of this decision. That I no longer believed they have my best interests at heart. (3/9)
I clarified my positions, pointed out the consequences of their actions, how those consequences would affect me, my brother (also gay), and my sister as well as the consequences re the world we will live out the rest of our lives in. (2/9)
On September 18th, I wrote and mailed a letter to my Trump-voting family members. I live in a different state now and have limited contact with them. In the letter, I made it plain and clear how I felt about their decision as an openly gay man who they supposedly had accepted as such. (1/9)
These chucklefucks weren't even planning on land-banking for rail corridors until the state told them they needed to. We need to stop thinking that tech bros will do anything but fuck stuff up worse than it already is, regardless of good intentions.
Imagine being that small-minded, petty and angry
wild. I don't have any firsthand experience with the tech but has reddit turned up anything?
Odd question but what kind of cable are you using? Have you tried different ones?
Me as M and boyfriend as XL is absolute peak size diff
The gremlins saw that you were on to them and are fucking with you the same way they do when you bring the car to the dealership and it won't make the sound it's been making nonstop for three months
I find that the proportion of my time online is likely correlated directly with how socially active I am. The more stuff I have going on in my life the less time I find myself online. If I end up on the campaign trail I would like to think I would have very little time for it beyond the necessary.
Picturing you working on a car engine or something but instead of forgetting tools in the windshield cowl, you forget them on your pecs
It's horseshit of the highest order of course.
