ah you mean the vinyl/aluminum kind? Yeah, I'm from New Orleans originally so I literally learned about cast/wrought iron in like...the third grade at school lol. I prefer the real thing. Probably gonna scrub the staining from the pony wall and paint the iron with rust stabilizer in the spring.

It is, yeah. I don't know that it's as old as the building (1911) but it's been there long enough to pick up a fair amount of rust in Sacramento. It runs along the pony wall (actual term) on those two edges. The rest of the boundary are the sloped shingle roof on the right and the building itself

It's marketing and profit margins. Basically due to a few tax/regulatory loopholes, manufacturers make higher profit margins by selling folks big SUVs and trucks as passenger vehicles. To get ppl to BUY them, they've spent years and millions on manipulative advertising convincing them they NEED it.
