It seems like del Toro approached this story (in part) from an angle of fathers and sons, and I don’t agree with doing that, but it’s his film and since I am not a father or son, I won’t like…. pretend to grok how important that angle is for the father’s and sons out there.

The blue matters too, very much. It’s a smaller theme, but I’d say it’s layered onto every thing that is socialized and programmed. Things under control are in Virgin Mary blue, I think.

First snow plough of the year, November 9. We had a dog who barked at the plough, and when one approaches I still stiffen in preparation to shush the dog. It’s a nice reminder that he’s with me, even after he’s gone.
