if you get an EV then you'll still be traffic. only you'll be electric traffic now.

what you _really_ want but just probably haven't come to terms with yet is less time in your life of being traffic, less being in a car.

this requires good, safe biking infrastructure as well as an e-bike for many.
280 million e-bikes are slashing oil demand far more than electric vehicles
E-bikes and scooters displace 4x as much demand for oil as all of the EVs in the world.

Tonight's mini project to swap over my heated insole setup from my 2023-era AT boots to my current new-hotness dual-BOA alpine-only boots had a bit of a surprise twist:

the afternoon light caught my new biking shoes nicely

with that rounded toebox they look like large little kid shoes

which I guess they kinda are

Weakening universal HBV vaccination recommendations has accomplished nothing positive for public health. It is undoing a policy with decades of evidence, extensively demonstrated safety, and it is erroneously suggesting that there is some kind of substantive risk to the vaccine.

There isn't.

maybe I'll grow into it in my dotage, but at this point in my life the ad spend on this ostensibly targeted ad is entirely wasted

Home maintenance morning

Did the usual condenser care mini song and dance on the heat pump dryer

Changed the interior air intake filter for the ERV. Was fuzzy looking.

Got the pool table up on wheeled dollies to move it about. Swapped places with the ping pong table. Wife was not enthused by delaying departure to take this last photo

Finished Red Rabbit just now, in the ski lodge. Next will be Red Winter per the Goodreads order.

Did one run. Couldn’t see anything. Wife’s boots killing her. Plus the run was crowded, to add insult to injury.

So she shed her gear at the car, we each had a pastry and a hot drink, and somehow I haven’t migrated back out into the blizzard yet.

my friends

I have tragic news

yes, the Washlet at the mountain house appears to have died. only 18 months did it live

as they say the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long

Bonus in the second screenshot for Google AI not grokking that December 5, 2025 is indeed a later date than September 15, 2025

New since last season is a set of 4 DCFC at the Idaho Springs Starbucks.

125 kW Volvo units operated by Chargepoint. 49 cents/kWh, so in line with the market, and a great location.

And off we go, with my Forza color scheme Pivots up top to bring some culture to this land.

Tomorrow’s driving conditions are projected to be very rough—good luck to all of you running that gauntlet

My wife’s doc couldn’t navigate the preauth maze, so to Lilly Direct we turn

(She’s on it for prediabetes. So doesn’t match the two algorithmic pathways that will let you get a preauth.)

Pile o’ junk to load up in the Buzz before we leave this afternoon. (And four more small bags of clothes yet still upstairs!)

Most of the ski hardware is already staged up at the house from my prior travels. Grabbing the 88 mm new skis since there’ll be some new snow atop the meager base.

thought about driving to US Thai to grab lunch

25 min each way

yeah, nah, I'll DoorDash some 80% as good Thai instead and chill on the couch reading my book while waiting it to arrive instead

Took a before photo then struggled for an hour against bad tolerances and stripped threads on the tip of one of the longer bolts needed to affix the rack towers to the Buzz’s roof.

pretty decent pricepoints here. will lease reasonably well if they keep the lease cash spice-flow coming, even if residuals like now, 48-50% for a 24/12, for example.

231 mile nominal EPA range car feeling a bit optimistic today, even on snowy high resistance roads and in near-snow temps, shod with Nokians. The heat pump probably is helping.

(52F was in the heated garage with the door open so mixing in some outside air.)

Stretching, dead hangs, and then 3 light sets of each. Tried to do some Bosu ball plank stabilization things at end but tired. Repaired shoulder a bit sore.
