I did it today, and while it was easy enough it also made things worse. so at least my instance was wired right from the factory. reverting to stock was similarly easy at least.

so reputedly the EV6's upgrade-from-base Meridian sound system came with the subwoofer wired such that it was out of phase. swapping the pins on its connector would reverse the phase, and is easy enough to do, so I did it.

first step is to clear out one's under-floor junks and pop off a panel.

after. again, didn't get captured well. but worse this way.

before/stock

so I did these steps once again and reverted to stock red-black-red-black wiring. no harm, no foul. but also no improvement in the bass response of the octave drop at the end of said lick, which is a legit low note.

(my AirPods Max reproduce it better, for the record. it's there in the track.)

I did before and after tests with the bass riff section of "Sorry, Not Sorry"... and stock is 100% better for my model year 2025, Korean-built GT model

didn't get captured by my phone's microphone well but there's a big null in response at the high D in the bass lick with phase reversed from stock.

the one uses a tiny screwdriver or awl to scoot the pins out of the connector, and then slide them back in black-red-black-red order. replace orange cover, put plastics back on.
December 1, 2025 at 5:42 PM
one more cover needs to be removed along the back edge of the cargo area: two oversized flathead or thumbscrews does the trick. the one pops off an orange cover to reveal the pins.

stock is red-black-red-black from front to back as here.

Correction: I am informed that Denver has been punted to climate zone 6a as of the last revision of such maps

Recall that this is in a very well insulated house: low air leakage verified by a blower door test/attic sealed with spray foam, R-60 in attic and R-38 in the walls, double pane windows with more south facing exposure than in other directions. Denver is in climate zone 5.

Again will have more granular data after Dec 8, when Jetson puts in their own thermostat + app + energy monitoring panel setup in place of this stock MRCOOL one.

I’ll try it. It’s easy and reversible. Plus I have my calibration track: Sorry, Not Sorry. :-D

We apparently have the same Meridian system. Perhaps I’m just more easily impressed :-D

Have you tried reversing the phase on the sub? I might give this a shot, even though I’m happy enough now as it is

A Kia EV6 owner figured out that the reason why the Meridian sound system in their car doesn't sound well is that the subwoofer is incorrectly wired

Plus they even made some non-superficial changes:

I did a thing, and now it's in my garage after the Longmont sales guy shuttled it down here.

yes and yes

of all its attributes I like its fancy stereo the best. even more so than the admittedly fun straight line power

ok, having only very minor range drop in this cold weather via the heat pump is a close second

Related: L1 charging is slow. True story, my bruv-nors
December 1, 2025 at 5:44 AM
I worked out a position for it such that the Toyota L1/L2 switchable EVSE can just reach to its charging port when snaked under the garage door and plugged in safely and securely indoors.

I'm not sure if they'll look for the EVSE at lease end but better to be safe than sorry eh
