There's a version of Rogue One that's 15 minutes of character introduction and setup then just the raid and it's results and it's considered the best Star Wars filmvella ever made
Visibly so much of it is like a Soduku, edits which are the only solution to make what Gilroy inherited in any way coherent. Fascinated as to how much footage didn’t make it (as opposed to what has been repurposed).
Watched it with my kids recently for first time since the cinema, and I'd memory-holed how clunky some of the plot and character development is. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I had remembered the cracking action sequences.

As a student of various historical hegemons I think America is pretty good actually I judge on how well they let you play ball vs steamroll you without regard. Ideally, no hegemon of course, but if yer gonna have one hopefully it does good with the bad (shoutouts pepfar)

Maybe I’m naive but I think people are smart enough to recognize the CDC or other agencies are being led by dumbos and that eventually they won’t be so I don’t really see an issue of credibility there. People are pretty good at detecting being in a new era
