Appalling.
So Tim Davie has resigned from the BBC over a failure to be impartial in relation to Trump.

Once.

The BBC has failed to be impartial about trans people since Davie's tenure started.

Systematically and regularly.

So why did he not resign over these?

Genuinely believe with my whole heart that the stances on trans rights taken by @zackpolanski.bsky.social are contributing massively to a load of emotionally burn-out and mentally exhausted trans people having hope for the first time in bloody ages.

The “Democratic Republic of Korea” is undemocratic,

“Georgian Dream” is a nightmare,

The “United States” is disunited,

“Gender-critical” bigots are uncritical of gender,

The “Labour Party” is the party of capital,

BBC “News” is just propaganda,

Landlords don’t “provide housing” they ration it

We have been tracking people’s experiences with gendered spaces and our new report looks at the impact of the 2025 EHRC interim update on access to, and experiences within, gendered spaces in the UK.

Trans people are being challenged, misgendered and harassed whether they use a facility that aligns with their sex assigned at birth, or not. Many gender non conforming women also report more challenges in gendered spaces.

Interesting thread. As I said, judicial review of guidance is discretionary, and in this case, it appears to be used to sidestep human rights.
A more detailed dissection of why the decision in our application for a Judicial Review of the lawfulness of the EHRC's 'Interim Update' wasn't successful. It might have been if judges were even partly conscious to what trans people are facing right now...

It still seems grossly incompetent to me that Hodge would write an introduction saying there is a purpose in the Equality Act 2010, yet say nothing in the body of the judgment about what that purpose actually is. At the same time, the other Acts and Regulations are taken to have no purposes at all.
What the Supreme Court have clearly failed to grasp is that the purpose of the Gender Reassignment Regulations 1999, Goodwin v UK in 2002, the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and the Equality Act 2010 provisions was to integrate trans people in society, with a small number of exceptions where necessary.

Basically, Intolerance of any sort is now a protected characteristic under the equality act. Just straight up putting the paradox of tolerance in the law

Incredible
This is how transphobia's right wing fuckery blew open basic respect in the UK, there is absolutely no reason to expect now that being "women critical" is not also a protected belief, if you truly do not believe that women should just be reproductive slaves for cis men.

This will be used to abuse.

I am hearing there’s a political campaign against the BBC by cynical liars and frauds who don’t care what’s real and only want to destroy it, and I can say: LOL too bad lads, you could not possibly more deserve to get wrecked by the wingnuts and cranks you were once so happy to promote.

Folk apparently found helpful my exposition of what I have been calling the ‘Hansard Gap’ in the For Women Scotland judgment. At the suggestion of a correspondent, I am going to set out the myriad other difficulties with this judgment one by one over coming weeks.

This is great to see.

Phillips is completely snookered by @zackpolanski.bsky.social by knowing his history and explaining it clearly and concisely and in enough detail to snuff out Phillips' attempted Culture War attack.
Trevor Philips, "What is the implication of the white poppy?"

Zack Polanski, "The white poppy began after WWI, mainly from women's groups, who talked about peace and antifascism"

"So on the same day we remember the fallen, it's also about looking to the future and saying, we want a world of peace"

He was the first chair of the EHRC. 🫢
Great to see @zackpolanski.bsky.social on @skynewsrss.bsky.social this morning standing up for trans people.

It’s clear that Trevor Phillips was trying to trap Zack by not giving him all the facts! Martine Croxall not only eye rolled, she changed a direct quote - unethical for a journalist!

I must’ve been a postdoc at MIT or a new-ish engineering professor when I first heard the story of how Ben Barre overheard colleagues talking about how his research was so much better than his ‘sister’ Barbara’s.
We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.

Can anyone tell me when sex markers appeared on UK documents? Have they always been on UK birth certificates?
I am older than gender markers on passports! How do you regulate gender? By making it a form of government ID. It has nothing to do with state security, only regulation

1/ Apparently, the employment tribunal in Darlington has turned into a circus 🎪 yesterday.

Jo Phoenix, a criminologist known for targeting trans women in prisons and her links to hate groups, is giving expert evidence. The NHS Trust’s lawyer has just asked her a single question.

I am a little late to this, but I have also requested my name and face to be removed from @cyclinguk.bsky.social publicity due to the decision to remove trans women from their awards.

Trans women are women, gender is on a spectrum (and I did a genetics degree), and cycling is for everyone. 🏳️‍⚧️🚲❤️
Like many others, I am disappointed and angry about the decision by @cyclinguk.bsky.social to change the eligibility criteria for Women in Cycling 2025 to exclude trans women.

Today is Intersex Day of Solidarity and Remembrance.

It's an opportunity to highlight the continued struggles faced by intersex people globally, from unnecessary medical intervention or stigma.

We all deserve to be treated with dignity, and live a life free from discrimination.
