A stupendously good video game. Always thought more text-based games would take cues from it, but maybe anything that drew from DEVICE 6 was always destined to be compared to it so no one tried

Bizarre and wildly unhelpful that this summary is what comes up when you Google 'Outer Wilds reviews'. A scathing snippet from an extremely unrepresentative user review (the user average is even higher than the critical average) that doesn't even have the excuse of recency (it's from February 2022)

5 whole years since we uploaded our first (mediocre) episode. Fortunately, some of the later ones were quite good.

Thank you for supporting us!

So I'm taking the plunge and ordering some PC parts over Black Friday.

If you appreciate what @startmenu.bsky.social has done over the years, like @rewinder.co.uk/my freelance work, or thought I didn't sound like an idiot on Game Mess Mornings, now would be a great time to show your appreciation.

Oh, this packaging is ace, might have to pick up a retail copy to go with the subs version
If you’re picking up the new edition of Edge today, head for your local store's VHS section. For issue 418, we meet the Saber Interactive team behind John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, and bundle in a 2026 art calendar to celebrate the forthcoming 40th anniversary of The Legend Of Zelda.

Sektori may be the first game I've played where it's less my waning skills that are the issue but my eyesight. (It's very good, even if I am very bad at it.)

Are games fart?
The East LA level in Tony Hawk's American Sk8land has an elaborate secret involving an invisible rail that clips you through geometry to an out-of-bounds section of the map, revealing a message telling you to hide in the bushes in the Beverly Hills map.

When you do so, the game plays a fart noise.

Bill Macy is so good in Train Dreams – easily among my favourite supporting roles of 2025. And Kerry Condon isn't a bad replacement when he departs.

This is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time. It is so simple yet so clever and is filled with so many amazing details. And it's also very playable by someone who has absolutely no rhythm like me.

I cannot believe you can get this, Year Walk, and DEVICE 6 all together. Just magical.

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

Besides the point, but I found HORSES to be deeply compelling (I don't like horror).

It would be disastrous if Santa Ragione were to close. Really hope this gets resolved and/or Horses is a success
NEW: Indie studio Santa Ragione is facing closure after its surreal horror title, Horses, was barred from Steam ahead of its upcoming December release

The studio behind Saturnalia and Wheels of Aurelia said Valve has yet to adequately explain why an early version of Horses was blacklisted in 2023.
