Fun fact about Mussolini's March on Rome, they had a backup plan for if they got shot at and it had 2 steps:

1: Run away
2: Mussolini flees Italy
We have learned nothing from the Trump era if not “most of these fascists have no follow-up besides whining and quickly get distracted by the next thing if you tell them ‘no’ and mean it even one time” so there’s no excuse for what universities are currently doing

people have largely forgotten what a cartoonishly evil plot Suez was, partially because, I think, the Americans weren't involved in doing it, only in stopping it.
Stumbled upon a really funny post on here which said that Syria started a war with Israel....during the Suez Crisis of 1956.

Ukraine already tried giving up land for Russia’s word to stop attacking, with the Minsk Agreements of 2014-15. Russia violated them with a full scale invasion in 2022.

Why would Ukraine think land for peace would work this time, especially when a Putin-sympathetic US won’t do security guarantees?
Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that if Ukraine takes the right steps, its GDP could surpass Russia’s within 10 years.

"They are literally fighting over a 30-50 km strip in Donetsk, roughly 20% of the region still under Ukrainian control and now a central issue in negotiations."
