Oh wow - if Zimbabwe beat Ireland tomorrow, they will go through to the Super-8s and Australia will be out!!!

I did not see that coming. Now the Aussies really need the luck of the Irish 🍀 #t20worldcupmen
My bad, the winning four was by Rathnayake. But what a performance by Sri Lanka! Australia looking shaky especially after losing to Zimbabwe.

This. I've run my work from the early 2000s through these AI checkers with it being very confident that my work was 80%+ AI generated, soooooo that was the point I decided to not care who wants to call my work what 😂

I was a bot all before this AI arms race began.
Just because I keep seeing those "I checked this piece and it's written by AI" - this is an old article of mine, before AI was available. So could we not?

Memo to self: never write in public about a little experimentation.

Oh wait, that's basically all of science. And life, if you think about it.
I'm old enough to remember when Chris Quinn was a hero on the left for his aggressive posture toward covering Trump. This AI maneuver (post below) is so sad www.cleveland.com/news/2024/03...

So Krugman and I were reading the same email at the same time, huh.
Sometimes you wonder. Bloomberg this morning saying that you can't both believe that AI is a big deal and that we're in a bubble. But you absolutely can! That's exactly the story of the tech bubble of the 90s, major economic impact but not big profits. Sigh.

The story of Stellantis:
"line workers in Detroit had huddled on Zoom calls with an engineer in India to troubleshoot. In one instance, a cable needed to hook up the electronics in the Ram pickup was too short, but the schematic on the engineer’s computer 8,000 miles away showed a different length."
The Corporate Saga Behind Jeep’s Downfall
An iconic brand mismanaged by a French-Italian-American auto conglomerate, a profit-obsessed CEO and a billionaire dynasty. And that was before Stellantis collided with Trump’s trade war.

The benefits of free bus rides: easing traffic, reduced air* and noise pollution, fewer court cases, fewer cops charging overtime or shooting bystanders, improved public safety...

*hopefully the buses are electric and powered by renewable energy, but reducing cars and congestion is also good.

"most of this line of argument is so old that @pbump.com was still at WaPo debunking it in an earlier iteration"
Tom Homan’s statement on Face the Nation that “masks right now are for officer safety reasons” was an admission of the fundamental moral failing at the base of the Trump administration’s lawless actions.

If you knew what the administration is doing, it would not be sustainable.
The Trump admin argument that masks "are for officer safety reasons" is actually an admission
Tom Homan highlights how secrecy aims to block accountability, the immoral lawlessness at the core of the Trump administration. And, for paid subscribers: Closing my tabs.

"AI can help draft stories, but it cannot sit across from someone, make eye contact and build trust. The core skills today differ sharply from even a decade ago."

and Platner is a different guy than Fetterman but I cannot help but recall
As a Senate candidate, Fetterman guaranteed voters he’d be a reliable Dem, not another Manchin or Sinema.

Constantly. It was his core promise to primary voters.

Liar.

Many people in South Africa, where Elon is from, died to create a genuinely multiracial polity. They were killed by people who thought like Elon.

The people who thought like Elon also lost. Seems their “common culture” of white supremacy wasn’t enough.

1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.

The wild thing I learned about Casablanca recently—I know this is widely known and I’m not breaking anything, it was just new to me—is they filmed it DURING the war.

Laszlo says that not actually knowing that they would win. But resisting any sort of doomer tendencies.
You ever stop and think about CASABLANCA? You ever stop and think about "Welcome back to the fight, this time, I know our side will win?" You ever think about a bar full of people defiantly singing La Marseillaise, played by a soundstage full of Jewish refugees? You ever think about CASABLANCA??????

The other two films I'd immediately put in that category for their boldness in the face of Hitler's power are Chaplin's THE GREAT DICTATOR (1940) and Lubitsch's TO BE OR NOT TO BE (1942). Both films understood who Hitler was, what fascism was, and used comedy to take him down.
