We're slow in the UK to restrict PFAS. They're in all sorts of things, mostly unnecessary.

So much genAI use is distilled narcissism. Anyone prompting "draw me as" whatever the latest meme is, needs to ask who they think they're impressing whilst supporting this fascist, planet-destroying, creatively bankrupt tech.

A few months ago I went to the emergency room. The doctor said the hospital used an AI to transcribe notes and confirm his medical evaluations, but what I witnessed was this doctor using AI as a crutch. He misdiagnosed my problem and when I pushed back he said the AI supported his diagnosis. 1/

"The asbestos companies have, by this point, invested significant amounts of money in mines, distribution networks and factories; they have large amounts of sunk capital, and that is part of the motivation to create doubt about the health risks of asbestos for as long as possible."

At full council today I spoke about the outsize role high rents play in the cost of living crisis. I'm glad we voted for up to 85% council tax relief for families with kids. But affordable housing is the main fault line, and we must build more.

Lincolnshire has over 600 parish councils, which is nuts. Some of the smallest spend most of their money on admin rather than running anything, and merging them into more useful sizes isn't easy under current rules.

Earls! An etymology thread.
