One of my favorite things I learned during #Novelvember was about forks. I was writing a space pirate romance. I had my heroine try to stab someone with a fork and find out she couldn't break the skin.

Well, on Thanksgiving I dropped a fork on my foot...and well, I had to change the book. 🤣

I have a love/hate relationship with the romantic-kidnapping trope, and I think this book will flip the trope on it's head in a way that the romantic-kidnapping girlies will still love. 2/2

People publish slop all the time, even before the advent of AI.

If you put actual work into your book, it's already better than half of what's out there. Don't let lack of confidence be the reason you don't share it!

Got my #nanowrimo idea outlined, doing an outline swap, and doing some rough drafting (cause it will not get done in November alone).

However, all that takes a back seat to finishing up #TheLurker self-publishing stuff...which of course I'm also scheduling for November.

Also ever wonder why that dude who wrote a paper in 4 hours after procrastinating for a month and still got an A, was also a great test taker?
He figured out how to force himself to concentrate and do tasks efficiently.

And here's the thing, even though the best outcome is learning the material (which often these late night projects were), the "I had to BS my way through" is actually learning skills. It's problem solving, creativity, improvisation and thinking on your feet.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

I have the answer to this and it's similar to why we have Avatar sequels...
Shanghai Disneyland opens the Tron roller coaster and it's got a huge fanbase, to the point where fans demand one in the states.
Tron 2025 gets greenlit around the same time as the Tron Coaster in Magic Kingdom. 1/2

Pretty confused by how TRON became a big-budget movie franchise. Was it a bit hit when it came out? No. Did it become a big hit on video/TV? Also no. Do people have fond nostalgic memories of it? Eh kinda but not really. Was it secretly great and critically acclaimed? No again

Listen #Writers, I don't know how to market this book (I don't know how to market in general), but it is very short and contains humor aimed at other writers. So maybe by the end of 60ish pages you'll have a laugh and decide that you'd like to give me a chance as an author.

Flash forward, I start talking to an author at a book festival. Then I looked down and realized I had literally just bought her book like a week ago. It was a really nice moment to tell her that I had just bought her book and that I thought it was well done! 2/2

So, I was at a nearby book store recently and I went to the kids section and they had an area for local authors. This book caught my attention from the really nice illustration, so I bought it and plan to give it to my kid as part of Christmas. 1/2
