The more I think about her actual words, and how appallingly under-reported/understood they still seem to be, the more shocked & disgusted I am.
Given Lam's appalling comments, the UK government needs to make it free for those with permanent leave to remain to obtain British citizenship, to promote people making the change, and to make it quicker.

They need to do that to remove understandable anxiety.

There may not be obvious parallels with Jan 6th, conduct-wise, but the message is identical: laws are to be abused in pursuit of Trump’s foes & ignored in relation to his allies. He is telling his base that they can commit crimes with impunity. Fascism 101.
President Trump has commuted the seven-year prison sentence of the disgraced congressman George Santos, who was jailed for fraud

Immigrants at two removal centres get free art, IT & English classes. complained Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp who described it as “woke nonsense.”

The Home Office pointed out the contract was awarded by the Tories. Under Chris Philp.

Confront the racists. Always. Never take a backward step. Make it very, very clear what they are. At a bare minimum, those who vote for them should know what it is they are endorsing.

The Spectator (owned by GBNews owner Paul Marshall - estimated wealth of £800 million) doesn’t like taxing wealth fairly.

I wonder how they got to this editorial decision?

Let’s tax wealth fairly, fund front line services & make hope normal again.

Private school can feel like the only option when the state system isn’t meeting your child’s needs, but the financial burden goes far beyond school fees ⬇️

Like I don't mean to keep going on about this but my schools didn't have enough geography textbooks for every student, and many of the classrooms were temporary caravan-like structures on the playground. And I didn't go to particularly bad schools!

One of the things I like the most about the current government is that the vast majority of the cabinet went to normal schools. The people making decisions grew up in the real world and not like this:

My new piece about Nathan Gill and Nigel Farage for @thenerve_news in which we ask:

Why, even now, is no-one asking questions?

And for as long as a high % of the political class pay for education they have little motivation to make state education excellent.

Private Education isn't about education, it's about access to networks of privilege.
The only level playing field in education is HE and state school students outperform their privately educated peers at university.

Patriotism is about wanting the best for your country and all of the people in it. Attaching to a lamppost a flag made in China and paid for by a New Zealand billionaire isn't patriotic. Shouting at a hotel becuase it houses desperate refugees isn't patriotic.

It's not hard people.

Apparently, the couple are divided about where to send Prince George, Eton or Marlborough.
Those who subcontract parenting to nannies and boarding schools have zero understanding of normal family life.

Ever since I finished Question Time, Reform have massively been on the attack.

Including a rant from Richard Tice entirely designed to distract from Reform and Russia.

Everyone should know about Nathan Gill, the bribes from Russia and the link to Reform.

Seems @Nigel_Farage is trying damage limitation on the Reform Russian Bribes scandal.

He’s known Nathan Gill for 20 years, and claims he knew nothing.

No one believes you, Nigel.

Keep the story moving. Questions must be answered.

Nigel Farage accuses teachers of "poisoning our kids" on race issues.

Here's a reminder of what teachers and fellow pupils at Farage's own school remember of his own views on that subject.

I sometimes worry I exaggerate the collective madness of our media but the people who cheered Brexit, Boris Johnson & Liz Truss's mini-budget are now applauding Kemi Badenoch's speech. 'Parallell universe' doesn't come close. I suppose her not falling over is a win of sorts for them at the moment.

The reason the Right are so invested in the myth that the arts have no value isn’t because the arts don’t generate wealth (they do); it’s that studying the arts teaches people to imagine better ways of judging the value of an idea than by counting how much money it makes…
It was frustrating at times but whenever I thought of giving up, I remembered Thatcher was the Prime Minister! Badenoch doesn’t seem to think she needs to do anything.
