We have a Goldie but this seemed daft: “My team and I analysed the genetic code & behaviour of 1,300 golden retrievers, looking for genes associated with their behavioural traits. Genes in humans, inherited from the same evolutionary ancestor, were identified”

Golden retriever and human behaviour may be linked by the same genes – new research

Regarding the Gill (and potential others) Russian bribery case..

A person in a very senior role at the European Parliament has told me the UK authorities have not contacted the Parliament to ask for information, records etc.

As both a former Crown Prosecutor and former MEP, I'm surprised by that.

“Historic reports of racist behaviour – & Farage’s reaction – give us an insight into the leader of the UK’s main far-right party. Anyone who has paid attention to Farage’s political career will not be surprised by the nature of the childhood beliefs he espoused”

Nigel Farage’s alleged teenage comments are a distraction from the damage of his politics
Reports of such appalling behaviour – and Farage’s reaction – give us an insight into the leader of the UK’s rising far-right party.

“The Government is working with providers to introduce alternatives — such as public transport — to save taxpayer money”

Surely obvious. Were the Tories from 2018 onwards not already doing this? They consider themselves the Commonsense party & taxpayer’s friend

Huge respect to the papers for finding both an 88 year old worried about the tax bill on her 6 bedroom Kensington house and a 20 year old fretting about only being able to save £12k a year tax free.
Top work all around. These are not easy case studies to find.

Ukraine frontline is not facing imminent collapse despite Kremlin assertions. Putin claimed during a press conference on 27 Nov that Russia is making significant gains such that Ukraine should concede to his demands before the situation worsens

The UK, where the day after a decision to take half a million children out of poverty, the media & political world has been full of sneering at those same children & their families, labelling them as ‘Benefits Street’, while the same people are moaning about a tax on £2m mansions. Shameful stuff.

Since it was first published on Nov. 20, the much-discussed 28-point plan for ending the war in Ukraine has borne all the signs of a Kremlin information operation. In fact, many of its most controvers...

Scrapping the two-child cap is both anti-poverty & pro-learning.

Children don’t come to school ready to learn if they live in poverty. Teachers can’t focus on teaching if they’re plugging gaps elsewhere.

What goes on outside the school gates makes a big difference inside them.
