My favourite English castle, easily accessible from France, is Dover castle. Not only do you have the castle, one of the few decent ones run by English Heritage, but you also have access to some military tunnels in the white cliffs of Dover, which now appears to be run by the National Trust.

Bit like the arguments that "taxing the rich will make them leave" or trickle-down theory

They were proven to be wrong decades ago but CONservatives still keep spouting them, like holy mantras 🤡

Now the so-called party of workers, #Labour, also seem to be CONservatives...
How many times do we need to point this out?
By appeasing the far right, you do not weaken it. You strengthen it.
While weakening your own position.
There's a vast amount of academic research showing this.
But Labour will not listen.

My second-favourite English castle is Kenilworth Castle, Warwickshire. The buildings are mainly ruins now but some buildings are still intact, there are beautiful gardens and they have built stairs up in one of the damaged buildings so that you can look out from the top. English Heritage again 👍

Populism and it's close relative, fascism, thrive on ignorance, conspiracy theories and bigotry 👍

Populist politicians are the ones who promote this nonsense, with the cynical aim of helping their own political careers 🤡

Another needless (and legally incorrect) interpretation of the SC judgment. Labour, like the WI+Guides, take the easy option and exclude trans women rather than standing up for fairness and inclusivity.

The law does NOT require any organisation to exclude trans women.

Farage arrives in Scotland today, and it should make our collective stomach heave that this repulsive, dangerous extremist has crossed the border. Amid scapegoating schoolkids and allegations of antisemitism anyone who supports this man is morally in the gutter

My @heraldscotland.bsky.social column
"Farage in Falkirk? It should make our stomachs heave to have him in Scotland"
Nigel Farage’s Falkirk visit sparks outrage, with many Scots saying his presence north of the border should make “our stomachs heave”.
