I CANNOT, I CANNOT, I CANNOT

So I must go. Reborn you will be
in swathes of midnight while I haul
my remains and my garments and depart
before dawn. The slip of skin, furs,
none of my father’s things and certainly not my name,
just as it’s been returned to me

But my body remains, so remains my body.

No, there are things that are mine that cannot be carried
on my back, cannot cry out once walking. There are things that were mine
that never once fit, that I can’t—
couldn’t—
won’t recognize after all this time, this time after all.

Animus, then placid, both for all too long.

Maybe doom bound us by the wrist, maybe I saw myself
in what was yet to unfold, rather than wrought at the edge of a blade,
a flood of crimson, the snarl of bone-tooth-white,
and that which must only ever remain untamed.

I know not what was said but lines are lines,
eyes are eyes, and here, warmth melts.

So you’ll take what is mine because you let
what you could not find destroy you. And I will
take my leave and go.
And I will remember what I could not say.
And I will remember what fear tastes like.
And still I will remember what warmth I knew.

have been informed that my poem was submitted to the terror poetry zine 'there will be poems'! when thinking abt what i wanted to include, i was between two poems, so here is the poem i did not submit:

BODY AND BLOOD

O, but ahead is an alter
adoration built for you, holy
decorated in sweets fruits and fine ails,
pink vekvets draped about the cave of your waste.

We spent all mourning
walking, we once excepted
an ending. You—of vein, ere,
cold and glass, pained
looking upon a life grasping for truth.

Me—of ties chorded,
no slack between a song of solitude to a lessen
in weight born alone.
Whatever the whether,
I’d have carried your wait.

Give up on what cannot be cornered and peace
together a good-bye to hymn,
brothers at the root,
if only life was fare,
but alas, I know that I sea
you. And you, finally you, rowed
ahead to meet your piece.

We need only say it allowed.
We need only say it aloud.
