Just going to pin these 2 graphs until the Republican Party reconciles itself with democracy.

I know, I’m going to wait for a long while
Sorry, but i am like Saint Thomas, “i believe it when i see it”

Until then, these are empty words.

“The [Israeli] rationale [was] to discredit Hamas and UN at that time … and to allow [Israel’s] clients, the looters, to either redistribute aid to expand their own support... or to make money... in order to get cash and so not depend exclusively on Israeli financial support”
A French historian who spent more than a month in Gaza at the turn of the year says he saw “utterly convincing” evidence that Israel supported looters who attacked aid convoys during the conflict.

When you live in a democracy, this is supposed to matter. It's a matter of public knowledge—meaning everyone knows everyone else knows it—and so our (democratically habituated) expectations are that it should lead to a change in course.

That it hasn't tells us something important about US democracy
Team Trump justifies his endless parade of lawless actions as what Americans voted for but it clearly is not. He’s minus 25 and people hate everything he’s doing. There’s no support for any of this, let alone in the illegal manner it’s being imposed.

There are Republicans of integrity left in the country. We must amplify their voices, because the straightest line out of <waves arms> all of this is a pro-democracy Republican Party.

FWIW, i think the Ukrainians should totally ignore Trump’s plan of surrender and shame, & fight to free their country.

Fighting will be costly, but it will also be cheaper than living under Putin’s boot.
So, Trump is prepared to formally recognise Donetsk, Luhansk & Crimea as part of Russia.

Besides our cowardly betrayal of Ukraine, this is a stain we will never get rid of. It will haunt us for decades upon decades.

We should all hang our heads in shame.

To all Ukrainians, I’m really sorry

From what @radiofreetom.bsky.social said d here, there might be many people in the chain of command all the way down who might find themselves in legal troubles.

It’s clear to me now why Admiral Alvin Holsey, SOUTCOM commander, chose to resign.
Absolutely. Doing this remotely with drones or bombs is no different than pulling up in a boat and shooting them in the water. If this isn’t an illegal order, hard to imagine what could be.
And unlike some of the finer questions of “was the president’s inherent Art 2 powers in play”, shouldn’t offing people who are hors de combat be clearly known to be an illegal order all the way down the line to the lowest Seaman?

The *only* thing i know about Juan Orlando Hernandez is that he was a serious drug trafficker, was caught, and sent to prison.

And didn’t the state department refuse to give him a visa because he was a narco-trafficker?
“Additionally, I Will be granting a Full and Complete Pardon to Former President Juan Orlando Hernandez who has been, according to many people that | greatly respect, treated very harshly and unfairly.”

While I was on my run, I kept thinking about @dhnexon.bsky.social’s thread. Yes, Dan is right about not ceding western civilization to the fascists to narrowly define it so they can achieve their objectives.

Western civilization is like that 2-faced Roman God, Janus. OTOH, we have ideals & values,🧵
"Western civilization" only exists because of the flow of individuals, ideas, practices, and cultures — over thousands of years — among people who considered themselves members of mutual exclusive groups.

I agree with @dhnexon.bsky.social on almost everything he said here.

Please read this thread 🧵

This administration behaves as if they are never going to leave power, & those who committed illegal acts will never be prosecuted.
Can a legal scholar who knows the Law of Armed Conflict & the Standing Rules of Engagement, SROE, provide clarifications on whether a lot of people might have made themselves liable of war crimes by killing everyone on that boat, even those who survived the 1st strike?

This was always the core belief of MAGA—only Christian whites are worthy to come & live in this country, & only Christian whites should shape & benefit from American politics.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

The way the @nytimes.com whitewashed Trump’s statement of “third world countries” and “western civilization” is nauseating.
November 28, 2025 at 5:25 PM
Yup, Biden or Harris are no different from Trump.

God damn morons!
Trump: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries … denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.“

“Non-compatible with western civilization”

Yep, you read that right.

FWIW, this was always the goal that Trump, Miller & Co were aiming for. So, I’m not surprised by the announcement or the policy change, but surprised by how openly & unashamedly racist it is.

There’s a video going around of Israeli Border Patrol soldiers firing at two Palestinians in Jenin who’ve already surrendered to them (they were combatants, which doesn’t make this okay).

The working assumption has to be that this isn’t an isolated incident.

This is so spot on!
It’s really funny how a generation will roll its eyes at parents who watch Fox News but doesn’t see why being immersed in Twitter is having the same effect. Lots of serious people show up on Fox News too but that shouldn’t be your primary source on the news.

The hard cold truth is that National Guardsmen & women should have never ever been deployed to any city, especially to DC. Not for this kind of task.

Any job the NG can do, cops, marshals, etc, can do it better, & more efficiently.

The rest of the conversation is meaningless.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Does anyone know how to convert (or substitute) vanilla sugar into ( or for) vanilla extract?

A recipe calls for vanilla sugar rather than the usual vanilla extract.

« Ma campagne de 2012 ressemble comme une sœur à celle de 2007 » : cette déclaration de Nicolas Sarkozy rapproche l'affaire libyenne du dossier Bygmalion, dans lequel il vient d'être définitivement condamné pour financement illégal de campagne électorale. Explications @mediapart.fr ⤵️
