Basic Income for the Arts Year 2 report just came out.

Participants spend 11 hours per week more on their creative practice compared to the control group
The Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD, is today publishing a report analysing two years of the Basic Income for the Arts pilot data. This report builds upon existing research conducted by the Department.

The report confirms previous findings that the BIA payment is having a sustained positive impact on recipients’ lives. Recipients are spending more time on their arts practice, report higher financial investment in their arts practice, and are producing more pieces of work compared to the control group. At the same time, BIA recipients are spending less time working in other sectors, which boosts sectoral retention.

I used a Wacom Cintiq for years. It’s brilliant but was too big for the space I had. I think they have smaller versions now but it’s brilliant. The one I had needed to connect to a computer but there are self contained units now I think.

Saying this with as much love as possible, but please stop using AI generated graphics for activism. Plenty of artists willingly donate their time and work designing for activists, and always have. It's not necessary to step on an increasingly struggling group in order to promote worthy causes.
