Frog and Toad jumped into the water. They swam all afternoon.

Frog swam fast and made big splashes.

Toad swam slowly and made smaller splashes.

so to have all that work put on to ONE person is a LOT to ask. You have to be your inker, colorist, and editor all at once. That. Is a lot of work.

in the comic industry has a group of people usually working on it. At the minimum you have an inker and a colorist and even then its a lot of work even when split up. People just don't ever think about the labor in the creation of art.

it seems especially weird in the era where manga is as big as it is (especially in the US) and its not hard to find a story of a mangaka burning themselves out/getting health issues from keeping up with a weekly release schedule. Also people forget even in modern times that like, a comic

A commission I finished for a long time commissioner and friend Kythas. I need to practice doing backgrounds again. I’m so rusty even if it’s only a messy painting.

All these people in the comments saying you have to draw every single day… legitimately you should not do that. A doodle here and there, fine. But doing an involved drawing every single day is not a good idea for ur body. Take a couple days off a month, at least

You see it over and over again with LLM technology that keeps getting pushed today. Normal jerkoffs like us keep going "we don't want this" or "I'm going to use this technology for evil" because we fundamentally just don't respect it. The cool part is the human element.

When we find out the amazing and creative thing was done by some algorithm, that might be an interesting novelty for a hot minute, but it has no long-lasting appeal. Taking the human element out of creativity is a recipe for boring slop nobody cares about and/or gets actively hostile towards.

The whole video has a great moral of "people are interested in theme park characters and technology because of the humans behind them, not because of automated slop" because it's true inside and outside of theme parks! We like seeing humans do amazing and creative things!

The new Defunctland is good, especially with the part about the "animatronic Walt Disney is disrespectful to Walt Disney" argument.
