The first Trump administration also actually recommended against classifying fentanyl as a WMD when DHS considered it in 2018. Illicit fentanyl is already illegal, and so is drug trafficking.

This is obviously a pretext and it’s even stupider than the last time Republicans cried WMDs to start a war
During his first term, Trump’s White House dispensed fentanyl freely to staffers www.businessinsider.com/white-house-...

One day people will study Jamelle's mentions as a method of seeing deep into the psyche of some of the oddest ducks in the land. I never know if I should pop in and say, "but he didn't say that" or "you're just angrily agreeing with him." Similar to whenever I see Tressie's mentions. Wonder why.

AOC: Donald Trump and Stephen Miller want you to believe that this is who we are as a country. And we are here to say that it is not. We are a country that has fought and defeated the confederacy. That has defeated a history of civil rights violations, of secret police, of fascism.

In all seriousness, Trump’s intelligence agencies said fentanyl is not a weapon and his DoD got a more potent fentanyl analog, sufentanil, approved to treat combat injuries in austere battlefield environments. It’s one of the most valuable medicines for our military therapeutically, not as a weapon.

The premise of US-based coverage of politics is underscored by this.
We're all supposed to be 100% in tune with white men's feelings. We're supposed to care about them at the expense of our own. We are supposed to live in fear of them getting upset. Treating their feelings as grenades that can go off at any time. They on the other hand do not need to care about ours.

My favorite tyrant joke: a man comes every day and peers at the front page of the newspaper without buying it.

The newspaper vendor says, "what are you looking for?"
"An obituary."
"Obituaries aren't on the front page."
"This one will be."

Look, the GOP has been the party for bad people who make everything worse for my entire adult life, but there has not previously been a simple and straightforward argument under conventional legal principles that several high ranking members of the administration are murderers.
Updated timeline with 3 more strikes, killing 8 more people 👇

Reminder: all of the strikes are extrajudicial killings that #Trump ordered and the military is carrying out.

They aren't war crimes (we're not at war), they are murder and crimes against humanity.

What I've found in my research is that it took most "normie" Oregon Republicans a very long time to realize that their party had become a vector for illiberal, conspiracy-obsessed bigotry. Like, for some it took them decades. But the people with any shred of integrity eventually just left.

Like most Republicans these days, it's Wiles who is suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. A person with a basic sense of morality and decency would simply walk away from such a deranged person and the party that enables him. It's not that hard. Many have done so. Susie has chosen not to.

As with most things Trump related, I think there's no point looking for a 14-dimensional chess explanation for what anyone is doing. I don't think Wiles is a savvy operator playing a Vanity Fair journalist to advance her own interests. I thinks she's a damaged person enabling other damaged people.

My impression is that Wiles, like most Republicans in the Trumposcene, has come to believe that all institutions and norms are complete bullshit and all government has ever been is just raw power exerted by arbitrary and self-interested individuals. Hence, Trump, in her eyes, is business as usual.
