Norway literally did this at the end of WW2. It was called the "Legal Purge" and consisted of a series of trials followed by executions. The whole thing was very aboveboard.

These facts are INTENTIONAL. Because the whole point is that yeah, Coordinators are capable of some stuff that naturals aren't, but at the end of the day they are still just people. Coordinators can run fast and learn lots of stuff, but it does not make them better people.

people talk about Kira as if he's a messiah-like super soldier, when he is in fact a wishy-washy crybaby, and not even the show's best pilot.

Kira might be the "Ultimate Coordinator" but the show's best pilot is Arthun and it's not close.

The absolute biggest reason that it's my favourite though remains that the show was and remains an incredibly direct "FUCK YOU" to the Japanese establishment. It was not so much "subversive" as it was brazenly critical.

G-Witch is also super important because it was a SMASH HIT, which revitalized not only the mecha anime industry, but the YURI anime industry. The HG Aerial sold like wildfire, and that's how Gundam anime make money.
Anime do not make money from syndication. They are functionally commercials for toys

The strength of G-Witch comes from the fact that no single character is two dimensional, and that it's really hard to point to a single "Bad Guy" other than a literal death merchant.
In addition to this, it's just beautifully written, acted, and animated.

G-Witch is probably the best anime I have seen. I say "Probably" because I have since seen Apocalypse Hotel, which is easily the second best anime I have ever seen.

That, however is not *nearly* as funny as the fact that Gunbuster, or by it's proper title, "Aim for the top," is an homage to the shoujo manga "Aim for the Ace."

Aim for the Ace is fucking FOUNDATIONAL to the Yuri genre. It's as important as, if not even more so than, Marimite.

Gunbuster is really amusing from a meta standpoint because while it was doubtless not homoerotic INTENTIONALLY, it needs to be noted that not only do both of the female character's male love interests die, but the female characters wind up together.
