Christ, I got jumpscared by that YouTube money reveal. Spending a few minutes on the twitch stuff, seems like a lot of money, and then it turns out all of that was almost a rounding error compared to the YouTube ad revenue is insane.

I only make fun of the ones who then go on to shit on people's equipment like "you can't take a good photo with that lens, it's not as sharp as <x>"

This is mostly old guys on forums who never happen to post an actual photo they've taken with their super sharp lenses besides charts and brick walls

I saw Denis present a 70mm screening of Lawrence in Toronto a few years ago when Dune was just coming out and he said it's one of his favourite movies and that he was very inspired by it.

So I went and saw Dune and... Kept checking my watch the whole time. Lawrence meanwhile locks you in so hard

If you open the book Lawrence wrote, page 1 is a poem dedication he wrote that might be one of the most gay things I've ever read (it's quite a good and very emotional poem)

He also mentions a LOT of gay sex was going on in the desert

Yeah Dune was pretty specifically based on Lawrence's book Seven Pillars of Wisdom

A lot of David Lean movies have a somewhat strange feel where it's like caught between eras of film history. They're simultaneously Of Their Time and Ahead Of. Lawrence is his most fun movie though
