One of the things prosecutors must show in a murder trial is the defendant's intent. Intent can be tricky to prove, so one day a lawyer or two will thank Pete Hegseth for proving it for them. He's smart that way.

As a youth I was taught that one of the most heinous and cowardly things that happened during World War II was when a pilot bailed out after losing a dog fight and then the enemy pilot strafed and killed him as he parachuted down. We were taught that was a war crime.
