"If our society had to agree upon a symbol, it would most likely not be a circle, a cross, or a line, but the dizzying exponential curve." Niklas Luhmann; Die Systemtheorie der Gesellschaft (2017: 300)

And then there’s the story about Alex Karp’s not-at-all-weird interview (for lack of a better word) with Oswald Mosley’s grandson for a senior position at Palantir.

" ...as politically implausible as Deneen’s ‘Aristopopulism’, and about as historically accurate as Asterix."

Yet here we are, pulling out the intellectual big guns to battle against nostalgia-tinted political infantilism, and "neo-royalist" arguments cooked in SV circle-jerks.
‘All post-liberals have at one point or another declared themselves anti-libertarian. Why is it, then, that once in power supposedly post-liberal politicians re-enact Thatcherism and Reaganism?’

Friendly reminder of why China is not our friend either. Sense of urgency, anyone?
China established a new UN “Friends of Global Governance” group.

Members include:

Iran
Cuba
Pakistan
Venezuela
North Korea

This initiative of Xi Jinping “offers China's wisdom to uphold international fairness, responding to the needs of the people.”

A few thoughts on the new US national security strategy that was released today.

not sure how one argues with a straight face anymore that liberal elites did not play an outsized role in the slow-then-sudden disappearance of the cordon sanitaire around open racism and eugenics

All hail Juché Britannia.

(It's truly surreal that this is coming from the Tories.)
I don’t get how Jenrick can actually believe that we should shrink the population and then start making more of our own things from pots and pans to what iPhones? How does he think that happens?

Now I understand better why Skynet hates humans. It was fed MAGA hatred from birth/inception.
The US National Security Strategy seems to be—at least in part—written/edited by AI.

There are hallmark AI em dashes in nearly every other paragraph — shocking but unsurprising.

Time for a remake of Whitehouse Down, where the baddies are a protofascist group that wears red baseball hats?
The Trump National Security Strategy is an act of vandalism against the things that actually make our country strong, safe, and prosperous.

Amid the liberal internationalist optimism of the late 1990s, Samuel Huntington foresaw a world marked by continued conflict.

Cool. We’ve ripped up the social contract with young people, so they can’t afford to buy a home, or settle down and have children or ever retire. Let’s now force half of them to be trained only to do jobs they will hate in order to stop people from other countries moving here for a better life.
Turning half of unis into voc colleges could cut student immig a lot

"To underwrite the industrial strategy half the universities should be turned into vocational colleges linked to the needs of the armed forces+industry

We desperately need a skilled workforce that does not rely on immigration"
