Tannenwald thinks RBNY and StL are the most likely destinations, but it feels like a move that would fit what we've heard from the Rapids FO too.
Very interesting to see that Penn State men’s soccer coach Jeff Cook has resigned - and the school says “to take on a leadership role at an MLS club.”

He was a big part of the Union’s staff before moving to State College, and brought many academy products there.

Sources: MLS has drastically scaled back its hiring policy around front office and coaching positions. The league has eliminated its minority interview requirements and many of the enforcement mechanisms surrounding those mandates. More details here.

The response to the MLS schedule change is that its only 1-2 more cold weather games. So lets look. We're losing June, half of July, and May (playoffs only). Games in those months this year:

6: NYRB, PHI, DCU, CIN, CHI, STL, FSL
7: NYCFC, CLB, MIN, SKC
8: COL
9: MNL, TFC

Lot more than 1-2...

I don't know what the NFL schedulers have against this weekend but they put the Jets, Dolphins, Commanders, Cowboys, and Raiders on the national games this week. Ouch.

John on the C38 Discord made a good point. With the World Cup break this year the Rapids have likely already played their last ever 4th of July game.

I've been thinking about HOW, not WHY, MLS made their schedule change and man, its not hard to look at it and ask why they didn't do it better. 1/?

MLS and Apple have reworked their deal so that it terminates at the end of the 28-29 season. MLS gets a little bit of extra money ($50M net), but deal ends earlier. Seems like it was a genuine compromise and could still be extended. www.sportico.com/leagues/socc...

Here's a quick look at how the current MLS spring-to-fall calendar and the new summer-to-spring calendars will line up.

Final schedule tbd, but estimating ~75% of full capacity match weeks (where all 34 teams play) will overlap.

I’m noticing that MLS’s sprint season to deal with the transition is going to be 14 games long. AKA, just long enough to play everyone in your conference once.

They can’t even do a transitional season right!

At least the #JLeague came up with a specially formatted competition that will suit the calendar and be unique and fun!

What are we doing here?
huh, okay. gives me fond flashbacks of sports during 2020 covid times.

I’m not trying to beg, I’m just saying that the blueprint is here in Japan and other leagues should take note.

Not like anyone remembers how the #JLeague and NPB resumed play with crowds months before any U.S. league managed to do the same during Pandemic Year 1…
As always I am open to commissions from US soccer outlets on how the #JLeague has spent 3+ years preparing for its transition to fall-spring.
You’ve probably heard that the MLS Board of Governors is meeting this week to discuss, among other things, a move to the “European” schedule. My understanding is that there’s no way that happens in 2026, but there’s a very real possibility that it could happen in 2027.

"Rodriguez noted noted the league’s principle is to not have a team play more than three games in a row on the road or at home."

Can we please put the "put northern teams on the road for 3 months" idea to bed now? Its always been stupid and unworkable and the league is saying the same thing.
